Dog of the Day

Wow, it's been a long time since I've written a diary entry! It's not that I haven't been on Dogster because I have, I just haven't had the time to figure out how to say everything I want. But, today I need to make an entry. Why might you ask? Because today I have been given the honor to be Dogster's Dog of the Day.

And, it comes at a perfect time too. These past few weeks have been pretty rough on my family and I. You see I woke up one morning and was cuddling with Mommy when she found a lump on me. Of course she was concerned and made me an appointment with my favorite vet and technician.

After we got to the vet and I had a full exam, I'm a healthy 9 year old chocolate boy, they did an aspirate of the lump. The vet found some really dark icky looking cells and said that it would be best to get rid of the lump. Mommy agreed and I had surgery several hours later which I don't remember at all. All I know is that I woke up with a huge incision on my neck where the lump used to be and it itched horribly. You know what that means right? The cone of shame came out and I had to wear it for almost 2 weeks!

It took several days but the results from the lump being tested came back and it was a mast cell tumor. There was cancer growing on my neck! Luckily it was a grade 1 tumor, the lowest kind, and the margins were clean so I don't need any further treatment. Woo Hoo!

So right now I'm feeling like a pretty lucky boy minus the itchiness of my fur growing back in. And, to be the Dog of the Day? Well that's just plain awesome!

The world mourns....

Yesterday a dear friend lost a long battle. And, today the world mourns a lost sister and friend, Chelsea, a beautiful cocoa pup who will be missed by everyone who knew her. She was a brave little soul who fought on against her seizures but in the end there was nothing we could do for her but let her go. Our hearts go out to her family and friends at Dogster and everywhere else.

Just Labs - Sept/Oct 2006 Issue

I can hardly contain myself right now, I'm that excited!

See my Mommy always makes me pose for pictures and plies me w/ treats and tells me I'm a good boy. Well.... all that hard work has finally paid off and I am now a full fledged Doggie Model! My picture was published in Just Labs in their September/October edition. What makes it even better is that it's the same picture I use here on Dogster and Ely Nanuq saw me in there too! I feel so great right now!

I am a Doggie Model. Wow. Go and check me out everyone! Just don't tell Dottie Mae, she would be jealous.

Little Bit

Our dear sweet pal Little Bit has passed over the Rainbow Bridge. It's sad to see her go but I know that she is in a better place where she can run and be free from lymphoma. But, I will miss her something awful. She was a sweet, courageous, brave, pretty girl who has taught everyone here how to live a great life right up to the end. Here's to a wonderful pal and a pup that has taught me more than any other!
