Arrival Story:
My family had a Basset Hound named Dagmar when I was growing up and I always knew I'd have another Basset Hound someday. Four years ago I stumbled across Basset Buddies Basset Hound Rescue on the internet and decided to apply to adopt a dog. I was pretty set on adopting a red & white female (like Dagmar). After interviewing with the head of the rescue, he thought I'd be a really good match with a black & brown male that needed a home. When I went to the temporary foster home to meet Norman (who's name was Fred at the time), it was love-at-first-site. He was so gentle & docile and he warmed right up to Tillie, my yellow Lab. When I brought him home, he just worked his little heart out to fit in and he became the most loving, loyal family member...beyond anything I could've imagined.

Bio:
The first few years of Norman's life weren't very pleasant. He served a few terms in a shelter and lived with a family who had kids that teased him. Despite that, he was wonderful with children. He enjoyed playing with other dogs, even though he had two-thirds of his left ear torn off by a vicious dog who he only wanted to be friends with. Norman was a big "mama's boy." I could take him anywhere and everywhere and he'd stick right by my side. I rarely had to put a leash on him, which is very unusual for a hound.
