Likes: Running (especially after squirrels) and being chased (by dogs and humans, too:)
Pet-Peeves: Realizing the walk is over and we are going back home. People who think she's mean just because of her breed.
Favorite Toy: Purple football and Mr. Daisy
Favorite Food: Something that isn't dry food
Favorite Walk: Anywhere... as long as the direction is away from home.
Best Tricks: Give paw, roll-over, spin and the most difficult... stay!
Arrival Story: Maya was in the shelter and was very depressed, but the second she made eye contact with me I knew I had to have her. Now she is very playful and fun loving (her obedience teacher calls her "Crazy Maya")... definitely not depressed anymore :)
Bio: Maya has a little baby human brother and little older brother named Poe (he's a cockatiel). She is very gentle, patient and fascinated with both (see pictures below). She is a very brave and easy going girl, but her one big fear is being around huge trucks and fireworks. Maya's life ambition is to catch a squirrel or at least get close enough to sniff one.... a girl can dream :)
I just wanted everyone to know that my mom designed some shirts and bumber stickers with the slogan "Don't Bully My Bully". Any potential money she may make she will donate to Pit Bull rescues and rescue organizations that do not exclude breeds targeted by Breed Specific Legislation. Even if she makes minimal money to donate it will at the least get our message out! So check it out at: zazzle.com/idebkiew*. She is open to suggestions and comments!
Today is so exciting because I just found out that I am dog of the day at http://dogeachday.com. This is a website that makes one portrait a day during the year of the dog.... and my picture got chosen and was made into a portrait for January 3rd! This is very exciting because my Mom sent in the picture in September and it is fate or kismet (or whatever you want to call it) that is was selected for January 3rd, 2007, the one year anniversary of my finding my forever home with my family!!!!! Hurray!
I am sad because my friend Gilligan has lymphoma and is on chemo. I hope that he gets better soon so that we can play together for a long time to come! If you are reading this then go to his dogster page and give him a bone or drop him a line (http://www.dogster.com/pet_page.php?i=260649&j=t). We love you Gilligan!
