Arrival Story:
I spent a wonderful day after my birthday shopping with a girlfriend, then lunching with her & my husband. She & I returned to her car at the Cat Clinic where we both worked. While I was visiting with our co-workers Amy walked into the surgery room, then re-appeared holding this gorgeous tri-color basset puppy. I was shocked, surprised, speechless!! My friends/co-workers had conspired with my husband to bless me with this bundle of energy.
Bio:
Scout was born of an illicit union between a basset & a beagle--making him a"bagel". Perfect for this Jewish girl! He spent his first 8 weeks on a farm & then moved to the big "city" where he lives with 4 cat brothers, a cat sister & his energetic Lab a Door Tree Reever sister, goofy gOLdA maGoO.

Dere's an error in my pwevious diary entry. I thinks I might have to get anuffer typist if dis one is going to make 'stakes.
Hooman sisser did NOT tell Mama about my Dogster of the Day honor.
My fwiend, Daisy, her mama, Wendy, told my mama. And den Daisy sent me a dewicious steak!
I is a lucky Scout Levi Wonder Basset to have such good fwiends to send steaks & cakes!

Mama just woke up from the coma she normally lives in & saw that I am DOG OF THE DAY! (the only reason she knows is cuz hooman sisser told her about it!)
That is just about da most exciting thing to ever happen to me!
And I gots a steak from Daisy. THANKS, Daisy!
Then I saw I had lots of cakes on my page too. I was so excited I didn't even stop to see who dey were from. I just know I lubs cakes and I'm so thankful for all of dem.
I want to accept my Dog of the Day honors by first thanking my Daddy & The Clinic Girls. Wifout dem I would not be living wif Mama. Also, BIG BIG thanks go to the doctors at the surgery center who fixed my broken back. OUCH! Dat hurt a lot! Wifout doze docs I would not eben be ALIVE! So I am berry berry grateful for dem. (Mama says she is grateful, too.)
Dog of the Day is a berry special honor & even dough I only knows about it for a few minutes as dis day ends [turns to glare at Mama] I will do my best to live up to being worthy of such an honor.

Tomorrow Daddy & I celebrate our birfdays.
I'll be FIVE!!!
Daddy is a multiple of 5 -- whatever dat means.
Mama made our birfday dinner last night and I got woast beef wif some gwavy. Boy oh boy it was soooo dewicious! I licked that bowl completely clean! I even shared some wif my lab a door
tree reever sister.
I not sure 'zactly what mama has planned for my birfday pawty but I know it will be fun. I bet I get lots of velvet ear rubs. Dat's my favowite thing!
Today mama made me a Birfday Collage. It has pictshures from when she very first laid eyes on me. She was SO surprised. And so happy that daddy & her girl fwiends gave me to her. (Interesting note: I was born ON DADDY'S BIRFDAY & Daddy gave me to mama as HER BIRFDAY pwesent in April. Guess I'm just a b
Birfday Basset!) And in my collage is a pictshure of me wif my big bruvver Scout, now gone to da Bridge. I love him! Dere's a pictshure of me licking my grandpa's head (BOL!) and I wuv da pictshure of me nappin' in da leaves. Dat is so relaxin' !!
