Confessions of a Gingerbread Dog

Ok, so let's be honest...I've got it pretty good.

I'm not quite a "gingerbread" dog, but that's what my mom calls me when she gets excited.

I'm Ginger, and I'm a-- I mean I WAS a fear biter. I suppose the urge is still there from time to time when I'm really stressed out, but it's been several years since I've been that scared.

I've come a long way since the day my mom and dad happened to stop by the shelter and saved me from the gas chamber, where I would've been killed minutes later. I fell asleep in my mom's lap on the way home from the shelter. She kept saying something about fostering me, but I knew from the minute she first held me in her arms that she would be my new mom.

I tried really hard to prove my point to her, but somehow, my fear kept getting in the way. It was a long time before I let my mom and dad pet me without me running away, but they were patient, and I appreciated it.

Almost four years have passed since then, and my mom says she loves me more and more everyday, and you know what...I believe her. She makes sure that my big sister, Princess, looks out for me. Girls RULE! (but don't tell my dad because he already feels out numbered)

I spend all day hanging out with Princess and I can sleep wherever I want, when I want. I can't wait for it to get cold again so I can wear all the cool clothes I have in the closet.

I've gained enough confidence to go to flag football tournaments, take road trips to NYC, and I even get to go camping. I think my next big endeavor will be kayaking at the lake, whenever my mom and dad buy that cool kayak they've been talking about for months.

AND...

To top it all off, I'm Miss October in Dogster's Year of The Dog calendar, which my mom received yesterday. She already has it hanging up next to her desk!

So, this is my thanks to my mom and dad, who are WAY cool, and to my friends here at Dogster for putting me in their awesome calendar.

XOXO
