Arrival Story:
Days before valentines day my hubby took me to go see the dogs at the dog pound. One puppy they just got in was in the first cage. At that time it was only fifety dollars for adoption. I didnt work and had a child in kindergarden plus an 11 month old baby at home. I knew a puppy would be alot of work but he bought her for me anyway. On our way home we stopped at the store for all her supplies, and she left us a surprise in the car, couldnt wait to get home to 'air it out'. We got Jessi when Kilo was 9 to get her a friend to keep her active.Everyone thought they were mother and daughter. She was in our lives for over 15 yrs,our first dog and grew up with the two kids. She got arthritis and in the later days I had to put a wrap around her waist to help her go outside. She had her place on our loveseat till her last breath. She went peacefully with us by her side and I wouldnt have had it any differently.

Bio:
Kilo was born Nov. 1989 we adopted her form the humane society on Feb.12th 1990. She enjoyed her life with our two children, and spent her life around a multitude of other animal friends. She had 10 ferret friends, one puppy friend and one cat friend. When she was a couple years old my daughter would take her for a walk, Kilo would come home dragging my then six year old home on the sidewalk, she was the leader of the pack. Closing in on her time she had left here with us I made her, her special area where she could still be with the family. Kilo passed away on February 26th 2005 at home. She had me and my husband by her side till her last breath... We miss you my pup!

A dedication to my first dog

We got you from the pound,
just an ordinary hound
black, fuzzy, cute as can be
just sitting there looking at me
So I asked "can we take her home"
we cant leave a lil pup here all alone
go to the store to get doggy supplies
left you in the car,boy how time flies
returned with food and a collar
only to smell something fowl and hollar
"Ohh puppy dog couldnt you have waited
what did they feed you when you were crated"
looking up with your sad brown eyes,
smelled so bad, almost made us cry
days turn into months, and months into years
seemed like just yesterday buying you pigs ears
as you grew older you leaned what a walk was
dragging our oldest behind, pulling with all four paws
We couldnt figure out who walked who thru
poor kid came home all bleedy and bruised
you didnt know better, you only wanted to be first
just to pee on that tree before you burst
one day we brought home another puppy, another friend
everyone had said you were her mom,we'd just pretend
you had the couch and the pup had the floor
once she barked, you'd look, but didnt get up as before
as time grew on, you no longer could walk
arthritis set in and so did the time clock
you were aging and there was no doubt
everyone knew what that was about
we started calling you Old stinky,
it was your bad breathe, something really icky
wasnt your fault, nothing you could have done
you werent eating solids, just cans of mushed yum
someday soon we were going to loose you,
time can't stand still,...something we all knew
that day was coming sooner than we wanted
fifeteen years later ....this day we haunted
we watched as you lay on the loveseat
pillow at your head, blanket at your feet
tried to ease the pain as much as we could
you seemed to sleep for days which was good
the last day I sat by your side, watching the clock
taking your last breathe, was to me a shock
Finally at last your giving up your fight
after a week of checking on you, being up everynight
I held you tight, didnt want to let you go
Said rest now my friend,I'll miss you so
See you in heaven my Kilo pup
save me a spot for when i catch up...
