no fly zone

we live in a beautiful area, and have fruit trees in the yard. spring until fall, crows are attracted to the fruit trees. well, this spring I decided to take ownership of our trees. only little birds may enjoy our yard. no crows allowed! the used to gather on the roof, a murder, and make a racket. since I have started chasing the crows, it is much quieter, and my people got a bumper crop of cherries, so far. the crows now fly around the yard, but never over it. Mom joked about renting my services out to some of the orchards around here. the orchards have a cannon that goes off a couple times a day, but it doesn't scare the crows for long.

our trip

on January 16 we all got up really early. we got in the car and went on a long road trip. Mom put my uniform on and we went to a restaurant. Dad and her had food while I waited under the table while they ate. then we went for another car ride, this one wasn't as long. we waited for a long time inside a building where Dad gave all their stuff to other people. after a while we walked outside to a set of stairs. Mom had a hard time going up the stairs, so we got to go first. a lady in a uniform said I could stay on floor , any where but at the front or 4th row. Mom decided it would be best for all if we were at the back of the plane. a few more people got on the plan after Dad. the noise started, and got really loud during the vibration, I could tell we were moving. after we were in the air Dad put my blanket on the seat across from them. I jumped up and was much more comfortable then. I watched out the window and saw mountains sticking up through the clouds. I also slept for a while.

Mom's wish

Mom made a wish on the Robin Hood Fund. http://www.robinhoodfund.com/cast-your-votes/wish/id/7187
n ow she feels sad and lonely because although kind of close, her wish isn't likely to be granted. she has done everything in her power to promote this wish, but needs about 200 more voters before June 27. the wish is really for Grandma. Grandma is so deaf she can't hear herself talk. Mom gets headaches when they talk because Mom has sensitive ears. Mom is so worried that Grandma is in danger living alone. yesterday Mom and I went to visit Grandma, but she didn't hear the doorbell. Mom got in through the sliding door. Grandma didn't know we were there until she saw us. I love Grandma too and cuddle up with her every chance I get.

here are 7 facts about me:
1. I have Dad trained to give me treats on demand.
2.I get 1/2 cup of rice and chicken broth mid-day. I also have free feed kibble. I only eat kibble in the evening, taking a mouthful at a time to the front door, drop it, and eat 1 piece at a time.
3.I get to pre-rinse the supper dishes.
4.I shiver and shake when Mom takes me to the groomers. I love having my nails dremelled, and looked blissful when Mom had hers done.
5.I clown around so that Mom laughs. I can make a toy out of anything.
6.no birds allowed in my yard.
7.the dogs that live next door come to my yard to play with me, they are my buddies.

back at the farm

last year we visited a farm where Mom and Dad's friends live with their dog Sadie. when we were there last I ran and ran, and played and ran. yesterday we visited there again. now that I'm a working dog, I stayed with Mom in case she needed me, although I wasn't in uniform. I didn't play with the horses, or see how fast I could run. I was always keeping an eye on Mom. I did play to entertain Mom, I can make her smile through the pain. Dad says he trusts me now. I was just happy to be off leash and spending time with my people.

sunroof

on march 12 when Dad came home we all got in the car and went on a road trip. I found out that the sunroof opens. I got to have my nose outside most of the trip. we ended up at Mom's daughters house. I love her and was very happy to be there. I looked all through the house for the kitty that used to live there, but he is really gone. at 10:30 pm I told Mom and Dad it was time to go home to bed. Mom put on her pajamas! we had a sleepover, but I don't think anyone really slept.
in the morning Mom put the saddlebag on me, and the 3 of us piled in the car for another road trip. yipee! we stopped in a different place and went inside a building. Mom had everthing we needed in my saddlebag, her meds, my water etc. Dad took me for a long walk, then we picked Mom up and went for lunch. Mom went back to the building for a long time.
when Mom was finished in the late afternoon we went shopping. we were in Walmart looking for shoes for me. a lady came running toward us growling "you can't have that dog in here!". I heard Mom growl under her breath then say "excuse me?" by this time the lady was close enough to read the patches on my saddlebag, and she started sputtering. Mom asked if she could help her find doggy shoes. the lady didn't see any shoes for me either, so we left. I enjoyed our trip back home, but I was most happy to be home and use the yard. I was exhausted.
