Likes: He is a love puppy! Kisses, hugs, lap lounging, head rubbing, floor rolling

Pet-Peeves: Thunderstorms and loud noises.

Favorite Toy: Mr. Squirrel, Mr. Rabbit, Mr. Skunk

Favorite Food: Cheese

Favorite Walk: Through Fairchester Woods

Best Tricks: If you even look like you are going to pet him, he rolls over on his back for a tummy rub.

Arrival Story: My kids wanted another dog and I said "never" after our dog Annabel had passed away unexpectedly a year and a half before. They pestered me to just "look" at the dogs at the Pet Adoption Days, and finally I said "fine - whatever" and took them the Saturday after Thanksgiving in 2004. We got out of the car and walked toward where all the dogs were and there was this handsome brown dog on the curb standing apart from all the other dogs looking really sad and quiet. I took one look at him and said "That's our dog. Who do I talk to about taking this dog home?" My kids were floored. "But we haven't even looked at the other dogs!" I told them we didn't have to, this dog named Murphy was meant for us. He was abandoned in Fluvanna County, VA, and the SPCA had only had him for a week before they brought him north to Fairfax to increase his chances of being rescued. The Homeless Animal Rescue Team (HART) let us take him home the very same day. (I got a great reference over the phone from my Vet!) He is the greatest joy of our lives!

Bio: When we got Murphy he weighed 40 pounds, was covered in flea dust, had tape worms, whip worms, ear mites and also heart worms. We were heartbroken over learning he had heartworms, but the folks at Parkway Veterinary Clinic fixed him up and he recovered!

Well it has been an honor to be tapped as the co-Precinct Captain for the Obama for America Campaign in Precinct 6 in Fairfax City, VA. Naturally, I walk the neighborhood every day, and I know many people in the area already. But it's been an amazing experience to actually canvass the neighborhood, knocking on doors and sitting on people's porches talking to them about Barack Obama. Well, I don't actually do the talking, but I get petted a lot, I wag my tail, and I occasionally stretch out and relax a little if it looks like it's going to be a long conversation. I'm very supportive of the Obama plan on healthcare, tax reform and energy policy. I particularly like his grassroots efforts right in local communities throughout all 50 states. I'm a big believer in community organizing and expect I will continue to be vital in my community long after the election is over. I just have this to say: YES WE CAN!

Hanging around the 7-11 on the weekends has gotten a lot more interesting now that I have reindeer ears! They were a gift from my Uncle Bill Badey. Everyone wants to take my photo with their cell phone cameras! I get petted a lot and people stand around saying how great I am, how cute my reindeer antlers are and isn't it remarkable I don't mind wearing them! Yep, it's definitely the Murphy Show down there at the 7-11! Being a celebrity just wears me out.
