First Snowfall

Here comes the snow, furball. It's not much and it probably won't stay, but I woke up to see snow coating the ground today. I immediately thought of you. even though this wouldn't have been enough snow for you yet. You liked big piles. You liked chasing snowballs. This stuff was like a doggy youth potion, and you'd stay out and play with us in it forever. Even though by the time you came in it had always clumped into balls on your fur so you'd sit down and try and pull the snowballs off. It sounded like you were ripping your fur off.
I think the first snowfall of winter is the day that makes me remember you most, even more so than your birthday or the day you left us. I think I shall always remember you when the snow first falls.
