Arrival Story:
Blackie came to the Hillside SPCA at least several months ago as a stray, dirty and either an outside dog or running for a long time (most likely an outside dog though). No one ever claimed him, so he's been at the SPCA ever since!
Bio:
Blackie (the 2nd of my favorites named Blackie, I have to say "Blackie-boy" when I call him so he knows I'm talking to him and not "Blackie-girl") has been at the SPCA for so long, and it really doesn't make sense because he is the sweetest, friendliest dog at the SPCA. Probably no one wants him because he's older, but that doesn't matter when he wants to go on his walk! He runs up the mountain with the rest of the dogs, and he's offleash since the beginning of January. He's the most loyal dog, he's never even thought about running away since we let him offleash. He's the only adoptable favorite I have, and as much as I would like to take him home I would rather he got adopted because I can't take him for a while yet, and because he's older and such a sweetheart he really deserves a good home!

Old Man has finally been given his chance to live in a house! He's waited at least 8 years for it, and now he finally has somewhere to really call 'home'. When Blackie's old shelter mate Bucky (also on Dogster) died, his owners came to Hillside to adopt Blackie. He couldn't have gotten a better home. Letting him go was definitely one of the hardest things I've ever done, but knowing where he was going, I knew I had to let him go. I couldn't be selfish enough to keep him at the SPCA forever, and he deserved a chance at a good life. Now I miss him trailing close behind on the walk, and his hugs when he hadn't seen me in a few minutes, and sharing lunch with us every day. It's been 4 days and I still cry when I think about it, just because I miss him. But we'll be going to visit him next month, so I can't wait!
