 Birthday: August 31st 2000
Likes: His Mom, playing ball and Neeko

Pet-Peeves: Squirrels and noisy children

Favorite Toy: his squeaky ball

Favorite Food: Cheese, apple and watermelon

Favorite Walk: The Park

Best Tricks: bow, say woof, spin, give paw, give foot, roll over, show your tummy etc

Arrival Story: The year 2000 was sad and happy. Sad because our Dalmatians Flirt & Richie passed away within 6 months of each other. They had lived to a good age Flirt 15 years old and Richie almost 16 years old. Happy because when we were ready to get another dog the Breeder I called had a male she was looking to place. Piper came home with us at 8 weeks old and has been a joy ever since.

Bio: I enrolled Piper in Obedience Puppy Class and we had so much fun that we never stopped training. His registered name is OTCh Newtopaz Pied Piper, CGN, RA. Piper has retired from Obedience but since he still wants to work we're doing Rally-O.

I got my 3rd Utility Leg at Tillsonburg on November 23/08 so I am now officially OTCh Newtopaz Pied Piper, CGN. Of course, you can call me plain old Piper, if you call me for a cookie (hee hee hee.) Mom and I were a great team in the ring. I gave Mom some tense moments for example I lost my bearings when we turned around for the scent articles. The articles were straight ahead but I went all the way to the left side of the ring, but I knew those articles were around somewhere and I tracked them down (Mom was holding her breath.) It didn't take me long to find the scented article and bring it back to Mom. Then the Judge told Mom she could breathe.!! On the first directed jump I almost jumped the bar jump instead of the solid jump. Good thing I double checked Mom's signal and changed my direction and went over the solid jump. After that it was easy -- go out to the curtains and jump the bar jump. Everyone cheered and I gave Mom a big "high five." And best of all ... I got cheese when we got back to my crate. Mom was happy about "the leg" and I was happy about the cheese.

Mom, I swear I didn't see you signal for a drop at the Trial yesterday. There's just so much happening. I only took my eye off you for a moment (I was sure that a Lab was going to steal the treats on top of my crate) and when I looked back it was too late to drop. Sorry, Mom. The Judge said I was a nice dog doesn't that count for anything???
Piper, even though you missed your drop (and got confused on the first go-out) I'm proud of your performance. You were happy and relaxed and had fun in the ring. Your glove was good and your articles were awesome; you were rock solid when the Judge examined you on the moving stand. We'll keep work together (as always) and you will get the 2nd (and 3rd leg.) You are not just a nice dog -- you are a GREAT dog!
Love,
Mom

Mom's cousin Helen and her husband Willie came all the way from Scotland to see me. Well, they came to see Canada but I'm sure they were excited to meet me. Of course Neeko had to get to meet them too but I'm sure they think I'm cuter.
Neeko got bonked by a golf club last week (serves him right for sneaking up on Dad.) Dad felt awful because he didn't know Neeko was there. Luckily he wasn't swinging the club very hard. Everything is OK though -- Dr. Heather checked Neeko out, no bruises or anything so he's just fine. The new rule is no golf clubs when Neeko is in the yard. Somehow I don't think that will be a problem because yesterday Dad was cleaning a golf club in the basement and when Neeko saw the golf club he ran and hid behind Mom.
