Arrival Story:
The year 2000 was sad and happy. Sad because our Dalmatians Flirt & Richie passed away within 6 months of each other. They had lived to a good age Flirt 15 years old and Richie almost 16 years old. Happy because when we were ready to get another dog the Breeder I called had a male she was looking to place. Piper came home with us at 8 weeks old and has been a joy ever since.

I enrolled Piper in Obedience Puppy Class and we had so much fun that we never stopped training. His registered name is OTCh Newtopaz Pied Piper, CGN, RA. Piper has retired from Obedience but since he still wants to work we're doing Rally-O.

I love chewies. Every once and a while Neeko and I each get our own chewie. I'm sure that Mom gives Neeko the better one so I mug him for it. Of course I keep the other one too. Nothing is more fun than munching on a chewie when Neeko has none. Too bad I have to go outside to take care of business because then Neeko steals my chewie. If Mom would let me take it outside I could avoid this problem. Of course the answer is to mug Neeko for the chewie again. Seniority rules!!

Neeko has been training for Utility and he got his Rally Advanced tite on Sunday. I told Mom that it was OK if she worked with Neeko because I want to retire from the ring. Well, I've been retired from Obedience since I got my OTCh but I thought I would do more Rally. I have my Rally Advanced title, Mom is very proud of me and we were going to continue on to get my Rally Excellent title. I even went to Rally class with Neeko a few weeks back. It was fun to be in class again but I had trouble with those pesky jumps. Darn those jumps -- they made me retire from Obedience competition. Mom knew I wanted to jump but had trouble seeing the jump. We only jumped one jump in Rally class and I did for Mom. She knew that I was really nervous and didn't make me jump on the second run. So we decided that since Excellent has two jumps it would be too stressful for me. I am officialy retired and when Neeko goes to class and competitions I stay home and keep Dad company. Dad is retired too so I help him with watering the garden, pruning the apple tree and keeping squirrels out of the spruce tree. I even let him hit my yellow ball with the golf club. The ball goes really far and I love to run and catch it. However I don't like to play it when Neeko is home because he just runs after me, barking and generally annoying me. He's my brother but sometimes he's just a pest.

I got my 3rd Utility Leg at Tillsonburg on November 23/08 so I am now officially OTCh Newtopaz Pied Piper, CGN. Of course, you can call me plain old Piper, if you call me for a cookie (hee hee hee.) Mom and I were a great team in the ring. I gave Mom some tense moments for example I lost my bearings when we turned around for the scent articles. The articles were straight ahead but I went all the way to the left side of the ring, but I knew those articles were around somewhere and I tracked them down (Mom was holding her breath.) It didn't take me long to find the scented article and bring it back to Mom. Then the Judge told Mom she could breathe.!! On the first directed jump I almost jumped the bar jump instead of the solid jump. Good thing I double checked Mom's signal and changed my direction and went over the solid jump. After that it was easy -- go out to the curtains and jump the bar jump. Everyone cheered and I gave Mom a big "high five." And best of all ... I got cheese when we got back to my crate. Mom was happy about "the leg" and I was happy about the cheese.
