Arrival Story: Wilder came into my parents lives when my father was in a wheelchair with ALS. Wilder appeared one day and greeted my dad like he had been looking for him all his life. This big dog was filthy and skinny, and attached himself immediatly to his quiet man. Kiwi always hated the wheelchair and bit the wheels, like it had been the cause of dad being sick. Wilder spent all his time with my father, always patient with the wheelchair. Wilder is very mellow and friendly, but strangers were not welcome to approach the wheelchair unless dad said it was ok. The hospice workers became members of the family and Wilder greeted them enthusiastically; though he always kept an eye on dad when they were around.
We believe Wilder came to be with my father and to bring his love of life and happiness to a bleak situation.

Bio: Wilder has been taking care of my Mother since Dad passed away of ALS four years ago. In May, Mom was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer, a month later Wilder was diagnosed with systemic lymphoma. Wilder enjoyed playing, swimming, and taking care of his "grandkids" for the rest of the summer. In late August his cancer had taken the last of his strength and he was put to sleep. His physical pressence is deeply missed but his spirit lives on in all our hearts.
