Arrival Story:
Juliet is truly a miracle dog. She was abandoned at a pound and was on the table to be euthanized in a southeastern Texas city when four puppies "unexpectedly" popped out of her belly due to the stress of the moment. I say the puppies popped out unexpectedly because she was only a few months old, and, because of her young age, her swollen belly, and her poor coat condition, the shelter personnel mistakenly judged her "wormy" instead of pregnant and therefore had labeled her unadoptable. The euthanization procedure was stopped and the teen mother and her premature (but way oversized for her anatomy) puppies were moved back into a cage and a schnauzer rescue society was called. Sadly, all but one of the premature puppies died. The minature schnauzer rescue group nursed Juliet and her one remaining puppy back to health (he got a good home too) and, just before Christmas in 2002, she came home for the holidays forever. Now she's one really spoiled rotten Princess of the House and loving every second of it!

Up early, strongly nudge guardian at 4 a.m. to see if breakfast is a possibility. Nudge elicits groan, so back off. 4:05 a.m. try gentler approach, lick guardian on face affectionately to see if early breakfast is a possibility. Get another groan so back off. 4:10 a.m. breathe deep warm breaths onto guardian's nose and eyelashes. Who knows, an early breakfast might still be a possibility.
