This morning, the Big Dog cooked up the leftover ham for breakfast and left the Tupperware in the sink.
Being the tall dog that I am, I helped myself to that container while he and my mom were at work. I took it to my fort under the table and licked it and chewed it and pretended that I was really eating the ham that it smelled and tasted like. It was heavenly.
Then the Big Dog came home. He was talking to my mom on the phone when he noticed the Tupperware remnants under the table. I could tell he got angry, because he raised his voice in frustration. But I could hear my mom on the other end of the phone, and what she said made a lot of sense.
She said, "Remember, honey, dogs are like 3-year-olds." She said that he couldn't blame me for getting the Tupperware out of the sink, because if it weren't there in the first place (i.e. if it were in the dishwasher) I wouldn't have been so tempted nor able to get to it. It's true! If the Big Dog had a baby, he wouldn't expect it to understand his logic right away; and I am like a baby that never grew up. I just look big.
Thanks Mom!
