Arrival Story: I had been calling everywhere looking for a chihuahua at animal shelters near my home in Louisiana. My friend knew a lady who fostered small dogs in her home, so she gave her a call. I originally went to see another dog named Coco, but when I saw Poochy, who's name at the time was Hooch, I just fell in love with him. She had got him from the pound, the day before he was going to be put to sleep! He was also heartworm positive. I couldn't believe no one wanted him. He was the sweetest! He loved to be in my arms. I filled out the papers for the application, and I got him that weekend. My whole family fell in love with him. He was very skiddish at first, because he had been in many homes. But after a couple of months, he warmed up to us all. In December, I moved to Houston with my boyfriend, and sadly, I could not take Poochy with me. My family could not bear to part with him. But I still get to see him on weekends when I go visit my family. And I make sure he sleeps with me every night that I'm there. I'm hoping to adopt a dog soon, so when my family comes, they can bring Poochy along to play.

I just wanted to let everyone know (I don't know why I haven't thought of this before) that if you live in Houston, DO NOT GO TO ABBOTT ANIMAL CLINIC! Dr. Javaid is a mean person! I worked there for 3 weeks and quit because I could not stand to watch him be mean to the animals that were there. First of all, he has got sooo many animals that are 'his' and this other stupid mean lady-barbara that live in the clinic and never have any attention or love except for the 1 hr a day-if that-that they get taken out by the vet techs to run around and use the bathroom while we clean their kennels. I called the HSPCA on their a$$ because all the animals that they own were living in their feces and were filthy and all their fur was matted. Even the persian cats he has living in tiny little cages inside the clinic! Their fur is unbelieveable! Some of the dogs had feces in their matted fur! THEY DO NOT LOVE THESE ANIMALS! barbara has like 20 dogs there and 11 more at her house. They are mean and unloved. No one is allowed to go her part of the kennels, but one night i had to bc the doctor told me to see what all the barking was about. I went and one of the tiny dogs had gotten out and was running around. This dog tried to bite me several times so I had to throw a towel on it to pick it up. A FRIENDLY, SOCIALIZED PET WOULD NOT ACT THIS WAY! Not only do they keep the animals just for breeding and not companionship, but he is mean to the patients as well. He was very rough with the animals that were in the kennels being cared for. He would just toss or throw them by the collar into the kennel when he was done with treating them with w/e. IS THIS HOW YOU WANT YOUR LOVING PET TO BE TREATED???? There was this little puppy, I wanna say it was a Shih Tzu, it was about 8 wks old and it had a bad reaction to the flea stuff the owner had put on it. So he made me assist him in giving it a bath. I had to hold the shower head while he put the puppy's ENTIRE face under it for long periods of time until the puppy could not breathe. Then he would take it out and squeeze its nose, until the puppy seemed sorta ok and then repeat the horrible process. If the puppy would try to get away during this he would say in a very hateful voice, "You're not going to get away from me!" I closed my eyes and pretended nothing unethical was going on. I would always talk to the animals when he would leave the room, Sometimes crying for what they had just gone through. I would give the animals as much love as I could to try and keep them from being so scared. This one cat that was going to be put to sleep bc of some defect it had, he THREW it in the cage after giving it a shot that would first put it under anestia-cant spell- this animal was still alive and still had feelings-is this how you would want your pet's last moments to be??? Someone just throwing them into the cage? I remember him throwing a bichon frise into its cage and knocking its leg on the bottom of the cage. Stuff like this should not be happening in a vet's office. He over charges TREMENDOUSLY! I have seen some of the estimates he gives people for simple testing that my dogs vet does not charge an arm and a leg. I quit this job bc I could no longer stand to watch animals being treated this way, especially his breeding dogs that have zero love and affection. HE NEVER WALKS BACK THERE TO CHECK ON THEM...EVER! He only cares about the money. Please, if you have been there, and you think he's nice, YOU DO NOT SEE WHAT GOES ON BEHIND THE DOORS! Your pet is not being treated with love and affection and he does nothing to try to make them feel safe or comfortable. I hope one day he goes out of business!!! If you have seen any animal cruelty please do not hesitate to call the HSPCA. or go to HSPCA.org.
Do this for the ones we love that cannot speak up for themselves!!!
