Quick Bio:
-pound dog-dog rescue

Birthday:
June 23rd 1997

Likes:
Brightly coloured plush toys with squeekers, rawhide bones, tennis balls (especially when thrown with a Chuckit - they go faaar!), walks, snuggling on the blue leather couch, frisbees, car rides and any human food she can snitch

Pet-Peeves:
Agressive dogs, latex toys, children who pull her tail, rain and thunderstorms, rock music and drum rolls, baths, skunks, but most of all, crates (spent too much of her early life in them!!)

Favorite Toy:
A big plush triangle with a squeaker in each ball-like corner, also her plush soccer ball

Favorite Food:
Finicky eater, but seems to prefer Iams Mini-Chunks. And of course -- treats! Especially peanut butter - yum!

Favorite Walk:
Anything! So long as she's out and about, the longer the better.

Best Tricks:
Jumping for tennis balls in the park, dancing for treats, talking, playing soccer (footie?) goalie

Arrival Story:
Read a story in the newspaper a few days before Christmas 2001 about how many dogs are abandoned at the local SPCA each Christmas and I knew it was a kill shelter. I decided then and there to bring a dog back into my life. I went to the Montreal SPCA and looked around. Several of the dogs were trying hard to get our attention, barking and wagging. I started to cry! I wanted to bring them all home. Then I walked around the corner and saw Sandy, sitting up all pretty and trembling in a huge open-sided metal cage. She came to the front of the cage slowly and licked my hand. I asked to take her for a walk and boy did she change the moment she got on a leach. She was a dynamo! Pulling and tugging and sniffing. For a smallish girl, she has quite the pull! That's when I knew I'd take her home. The pound said she was a collie, but I knew she wasn't a Lassie-type collie, so after much research, we think she's part border collie and part aussie shepherd (with maybe some sheltie in her)- she looks like a mix of those two and her disposition matches too. She's sweet, elegant, intelligent, well-mannered at home. She's not the most cuddly of dogs but she does love having her ears and head scratched. She's definitely found her forever family and I'm so happy for both of us!

Bio:
18 inches tall at the shoulders but a slender and girlish 30 pounds. When people see her in the park, they assume she's a puppy and always shocked that she's 9 years old already! When she's lazing around, she'll often turn over onto her back with one leg pushed up in the air and the others lolling. She talks too - when she wants something, she makes the cutest and most unique noises, not growls or whines, but a sort of yipping murmurring sound. And when she runs, she goes flat out - boy is she fast! When she runs in snow, she looks like a deer bounding along, because of her technique. She can lay down, sit, beg, dance on her hind legs, give paw, shake paw and talk - talented girl! She is also a great soccer goalie - gotta get a pic of her in goal!
