Johnny has found a wonderful new home with Ginger, who thinks he is adorable. Of course he is!

If you are reading this, you have probably heard that I need to find a home for Johnny. If you'd had a Sealyham Terrier of your own, you can imagine how hard it is for me to decide to give him up, to find another home for my sweetie pup. It's so painful.
But if you have had a Sealy before, I know that you understand what fun, what love, what laughter these goofy little guys bring with them.
Johnny, for some reason, suddenly became anti-cat. He is not simply chasing my two cats -- he has attacked them. (Thankfully, neither cat has gotten hurt, just frightened.) It's as if Johnny's forgotten that they have been his little pals for the last four years. I can't train him out of his instinct, and I can't let my cats be in danger.
If you do NOT have cats, if you have a Sealy-shaped hole in your heart and home, and if you're ready for the experience of sharing life with a sweetheart of a dog, please read through Johnny's Dogster profile -- and the diary entries I will post -- and consider if you and Johnny would be a "fit."
You can reach me at lindsay_gower@hotmail.com if you have any questions.

Johnny is a delightful companion around the house. He is smart and loves training (treats!) But because he has such good house manners, I haven't put enough time into formal training.
He does not chew, except for paper. He loves paper! But he has never chewed anything else (no shoes, pillows, furniture, nothing). But paper -- yum yum. He will "leave it" when told, at least well enough that you can open his mouth and retrieve your paycheck or whatever he's munching.
He asks to go outside by scratching the door or dancing around the room. His signals are easy to read. I usually take him out on schedule anyway.
To go for walks, he wears a Gentle Leader collar. That works best to keep him steady at my side.
He knows these words:
"Toy" means any of his purple toys.
"Get your toy," means find it, we are going to go outside to play with it.
"Hurry up" means go to the bathroom.
"Leave it," also means Drop your toy so I can throw it for you.
He also knows Sit, Down, Wave, and Rollover. He is good at Sit but only so-so with Down (he does it, then sits back up again.) His Stay is getting better! His Rollover is very funny -- sometimes he does a standard roll over and sometimes he spins around on his feet. We are working on that!

Johnny enjoys being groomed. I brush him about 5 times a week; usually on the living room floor. He lays down or sits patiently. He expects his cookie when we are done!
I use clippers on his coat; we do clippering on a grooming table. I trim him somewhat like a fox terrier (no fall, perky eyebrows). I am no expert at Sealyham trimming, but Johnny is handsome anyway.
He is in the pink of health, with all shots up to date.

Johnny is very affectionate and loves to sit on my lap or next to me on the sofa. Even better is to take a nap next to me on the sofa! I work at home, so he spends his days hanging out in my office.
He LOVES to play fetch! He races for his Toy, brings it back and drops it for me to toss again. (We like Busy Buddy toys; they last a long time.)
He is allowed on the sofa, but not on other furniture. He is not allowed to bring his Toy onto the sofa, and sometimes prefers to lay on the floor so he can munch on Toy. He cannot even go outside to the bathroom without bringing Toy with him!
He sleeps in my room, on his matt on the floor.
He is crate-trained -- he jumps right in when I get his treat out of his cookie jar. He prefers to be crated when I leave the house. He has been allowed free run of the house for years (until the cat problem developed) but gets upset it I leave without first crating him.

The first photo was taken on Johnny's 4th birthday, last March 20.
The second photo is of me and Johnny, taken last month. It is an excellent photo of *him.*
The third photo is from his show-biz days. Johnny was entered in one show weekend, back in 2006. He is a handsome "Seaberdale" dog but I decided not to make the commitment to the time and expense of showing. But you can see what he would look like if you want to grow out his fall and beard.
The fourth photo is from a break in Johnny's favorite pastime -- playing fetch. You can see how focused he is on his purple toy!
The fifth photo is Johnny at work -- at *my* work. I work at home, and he spends his time day sitting in a chair opposite my desk.
