Arrival Story:
After we adopted Lucas and Lacey, I felt that I wanted just one more to complete our family. Theresa Klein the adoption coordinator at that time for Peoria Greyhound Adoption, wanted us to foster a girl that had been a return. She had not been taken very good care of and we took her in without hesitation. We fed her and loved her and introduced her to her new home and all of its newness a little at a time. In February of 2004 we officially adopted her. She has definitely made this family complete. Thank you Theresa Klein for 3 greyt greys and instinctively knowing what this family needed. We couldn't have done it without you!!!

Bio:
Lexie lives with Lucas and Lacey...her greyt pals, and 6 cats in Illinois. Her racing name was "Dewey Issue". I NOW have a new name....I am no longer Petunia....my new name is Lexie and I am loving it!! Lexie passed away today (12/26/06) of kidney failure....you will be missed and loved forever!! We will meet again someday at the Rainbow Bridge.

I Have a New Name

I am sooo excited!!! When I was first adopted by my previous owner....I was named Petunia. I responded to it because I knew I was supposed to and that was the only way I ever got any attention.

When I was returned, my new foster parents continued to use that name. I didn't mind it because they used it in a happier voice and I liked that. But, it still made me think of my past life and that wasn't really good.

About a month or two ago, my Dad and Mom were talking about a new name for me that would coincide with my other 2 greyt greys...Lucas and Lacey. Dad came up with the name Lexie. I was so very happy and I was a little confused at first too. NOW.....I respond to my new name all of the time....no more bad thoughts. This truly makes me a forever member of the family. I am finally realizing that I don't have to go anywhere else ever again.

I wanted to share this with all of my dogster friends and let you know that I am no longer Petunia.....I am now Lexie!!! YIPEE!!!
