Arrival Story:
I saw Princess on Petfinder.com, and the look in her eyes just completely melted my heart. We weren't exactly looking for another dog, but somehow, I knew she was the one. She was listed as being at the local shelter, where the people said she was "too old and ugly" to be adopted. An adoption fell through with a family who already had another alpha female. She and Princess did not get along, so they returned her to the shelter. Luckily, an awesome lady named Shelli stepped in and fostered Princess so that she would not die in that horrible gas chamber. As it turned out, her foster mom was the neighbor and best friend of my supervisor. She had hoped a friend of hers would be able to adopt Princess, but that also fell through. The more I learned about Princess, the more I felt like she was meant to be with us. We set up a time to meet her and her foster mom. She was already vetted but needed to be treated for heartworms. We went ahead with the adoption and agreed to have her treated ASAP. Princess and Shelli opened our eyes to animal rescue. Before that, we had no idea how bad pet overpopulation was, and I'm eternally grateful that we were given the opportunity to adopt Princess.
