Arrival Story:
Miss Molly was running around my front yard (near a busy street) with a piece of garden hose clamped between her teeth, playing and chewing on it -- and a rock. I didn't want her to hurt herself chewing on the rock, so I went outside and she looked at me with these sad little puppy dog eyes that said, "What took you so long?" My heart melted and put her into the backyard because I had to go to work and there was NO WAY I was going to leave her on the streets! She was only about 2 or 3 months old at the time. When my husband came home that day, he saw this black streak running from one side of the yard to the other and when he stepped outside, Molly raced up to him and the two have been inseparable since. We put up signs to make sure this sweet baby didn't belong to anyone, and when no one claimed her, we were thrilled! She's the sweetest little girl in the world!

Bio:
According to our vet, labs are prone to fatty tumors. Molly recently (end of March 2004) had 4 really large fast-growing tumors removed (the second picture to the left [beneath her Night Night pic] is of her sprawled out on HER couch, recovering from surgery earlier that day. Two tumors were removed from both her hind legs, one from her back and the other from her front left paw. The biopsy came back negative -- so thankfully, the tumors were all BENIGN. She's recuperating wonderfully -- such a champ! Even though she's turning 8 this year (in November we've gauged) she's still a puppy. She wants nothing more than to play play PLAY (and harrass Cody). ---------------------------------- ---------------------------------- --- [Long Overdue Update] In July 2007, Molly began limping on her front paw and acting like she was in pain. We brought her to the vet and they diagnosed her with Osteosarcoma cancer in her front left paw. The only way we could save her was to have her leg amputated. We were so worried, especially since she was such a big dog, but she bounced back in no time and learned to get around pretty good with only three legs. She felt better and the pain was gone! In June of 2008, she suddenly lost the ability to move her back legs. She had barely any feeling in them, but couldn't control them or lift herself up. We talked to all the vets we could find around town but the consensus was that it was related to a tumor in her spine, and even if we could have taken her to Dallas for specialist surgery, there was no guarantee she'd survive the surgery, much less learn to walk again. We did everything we could for her to keep her as comfortable and happy as possible - she ate nothing but Mom's chicken and rice, she had pallets all around to lay on right next to the bed and constant attention. Unfortunately, a month to the day from her back legs going out on her, she began to have pain and became badly bloated. While we never wanted to lose our Molly, we didn't want her to be in pain. We saw how tired she looked at the end, and how much she had been through. We decided to let her go to sleep, forever in peace. Thank you for all the good years, Molly! You were the sweetest dog ever, and you will never be forgotten!
