Arrival Story:
I rescued Gladness at @ two months of age from the gutter at a university campus in Taiwan.

Gladness' father was black and tan and looked like a Beagle/Terrior mix that belonged to our neighbor. Gladness' mother was a stray Golden Retreiver mix. Her mother was very loyal and had several litters with her father before finally becoming a nuisance to the community. She was unfortunately taken away to the pound not long after I rescued Gladness. A few weeks later, G's father was also sent away to the country to be a guard dog. Gladness was the fourth of five in the litter, and she was the only one with two tan dots on her head. She lives quietly now with me in Taiwan... quietly because her best buds Spunky and Lady are in heaven. She often looks for them in the garden always gets up when I say their names. She is a quiet player but loves a good frisbee, though she has the peeve of fetching the frisbee instead of catching it. She loves walking in the rain wearing her yellow raincoat, and she loves getting a bath. Her mother's Retriever instinct is strong for she loves fetching toys, and often has a ball trying to "trade toys for food." Sometimes, she will retrieve every single one of her toys and place them at our feet, begging for a scrap from the table. She has that classic hunting standz when imitating a hunt (one forepaw up), and she does that on cue to the command "foot." Many people mistake her for a variety of breeds...husky, shiba inu, beagle... I always say, "she's a mix," and Chinese that sounds like "mick-ke-she."

Am I 12 years old already? No way!! I don't feel 12 years old, and I certainly don't look 12 years old! (thank you, Mommy, for the great dog food that is so expensive but so good for me) I feel great...da na na na na... ow! Besides feeling a little bit stiffer in my back legs, I'm all all spring and cuteness! BOING, BOING, BOING! Well, seriously, my eyesight and hearing aren't as great anymore, and I tend to be a little clumbsy at times, but I still go on my morning and evening walks like I've always done from day 1 of my life. I still walk real fast and shake my booty like a young pup! I feel GRRREAT!!!

Can't believe it...I'm 9 years old...oh, wait, 10 in less than 3 months!! Wow...don't feel it or look it! Good thing Mommy put me on Orijen dog food. Makes me feel young. I still scamper around like a puppy, and I'm still going strong! (secret whisper: Mommy does see more gray hairs on my head and around my muzzle. Even the tan parts of my fur are going much lighter than before, not to mention that most of my whiskers are also white.) I nap more now, but I'm up at the slightest suspicious sound. And, I do love walks, and those fun chew toys are still daily grinds! And, we're not going to the US...Mommy thinks the plane ride will be too tough on me, now that I am at a more distinguished age!! She promises to stay by my side forever, so I am content. ;)

I totally forgot to update you on this!! Mommy postponed our trip. She's been having some physical problems, and and needs to stay on for a few more months to get it taken care of. Meanwhile, I love my crate... hey, it's a great place to nap... especially if my BLUE BLANKET is in there!
