Arrival Story: I personnally rescued Milo from severe neglect and abuse. Milo was chained to a ragged dog house inside a fenced junk yard (no one actually lived there) with no shade and a bucket of green water. Poor little boy had flies all over him, so much he actually had blood on his nose and ears from all the bites, and an open sore on the base of his tail. His eyes were so hollow, he looked liked he just wanted to die. I tried to get the owner to let me buy him, but he said he had rescued him from being thrown out of a car, and that this was the only life he had known and he needed a watch dog. How good is a watch dog that is chained??!! I even called the state dog officer, but after viewing him said that he wasnt all that bad off and could only tell the owner to provide some sort of shade. A friend who lived close by called one night to say that he could hear them beating him again, so i went down to check on him and he was there, alone. I walked by to see if anyone was in front of the garage and when i walked back to see Milo again, he was gone! I whistled lightly for him (maybe he was in his doghouse? ) But there he came running to me on the outside of the fence! He had broke his chain! He came to me, laid down, and rolled belly side up. I put a leash on him, and with a little encouragement, coaxing and trust, i walked him back to my car, put him in, and that day is the day we call his birthday for that is the day he was "born again" into a loving and spoiled life. He has a lot of social/psychological problems, but he's learning. He's happy and that's all that matters.

Bio: Milo has come a long way since we first rescued him.
We actually had to teach him how to play with toys and run in the yard. He also has graduated into the house from his luxury doghouse, although he still doesn't have free roam of the whole house, he does have the kitchen, mudroom and basement and he comes in the living room nightly for his "training" visits.
He's been a good boy for the most part, although you do have to watch his body language at times and you can't ignore his growling, he has bitten and snapped at me a few times. He is still learning though.
Nobody can get near him but my husband and I, so that puts a damper on vacation plans for a while.
But we love our Milo and we have adapted our lifestyle so that he can be spoiled and loved the way all dogs should be.
