Arrival Story: Last year, our precious Maltese, Buster, passed away. It was such a sad time for all of us. I had lost 2 cats right before then, so our family was not doing well.
As the months went by, we were all torn about adopting new family members. The pain of losing them just seemed way to much to ever go through again. A year later, we started thinking how we had such amazing years with our animals. We want that again so badly. A little more time and a lot more thinking passed. We were ready to bring the ultimate joy of new dogs and cats in our lives again. We knew we just would never be complete without them. One day, we just knew we were ready. My family and I planned for a few months and then adopted the new babies. Joey and Gina the cats were adopted from the Staten Island Animal Welfare Shelter, and a little while later, Layla came home with us from North Shore Adoption League. Now, we are, once again..Complete and filled with Love

Bio: I came here from the North Shore Animal Shelter, in Long Island. The woman, Lauren, picked me out. I now have a people & cat family. There is a people-mom, a people-dad, a people-sister, a cat sister(who I never see), and my new big cat brother, Joey.
This all happened about a month ago, or so. I was only 7 weeks, but now I am big..13 whole weeks (almost). This new place is really fun. I already met my new best friend, Joey the cat. There were cats where I used to stay but I could only hear them, now I can really hang out with one. By the way, they're cooler than you think.
I like my new vegetarian (ooops, do I mean vet-er-in-arian..) Yes, haha, that's what I mean. He's nice.
Most of all, I love my new family. They seem to really adore me. Let's just see how far I can get up on this alpha-status around here. Hmmm..

This is my very first summer since I have been on earth. Wow, is it ever hot? My goodness. I really love to lay around on the tile with the air conditioner on. Then, at night, I get to go to one of the parks. It's fun, because there are so many dogs and peeeples there. During the day, tho, the tile is really a good bed.
Anyhooooo, Grama and Grampa came back from Awuba the other day. Finally. Now grampa is home to make the pool for me. Goobye my diawy.

A lot of chewies are very bad, mom says, so she's been on the lookout for something that I can't bite through. She ordered me a deer antler. No, no..we didn't hurt the deer..we just ordered the antler from pet expertise. Mommy sets my bed up next to her while she's on the computer and let's me chew it for a little while. I am actually thrilled that she found this for me. Some of the other things I used to chew were..well, let's just say mom wasn't always heppy with the outcome.. Timberland shoes, leather wallet (empty), $20 bill (not empty), unopened mail, and well...the list goes on.. Sooooo, I will sit here and humor My Mommy for the time being, but I suggest wearing your shoes at all times.

Hmmm. You see I am punished right now, Woof! You want to know why? Because everytime mom takes me for a walk, or to the pet store..all I do is jump..ON EVERYONE. I can see someone 6 feet away and then I stand on my hind legs and well..try to get them to pet me. The thing is, I don't ever bite or get rough, I just love to be pet. Most people are fine with it, but mom's not. She's had enough. After we went to the pet store today, she said "Layla, never again! You are not coming here anymore if you continue to behave this way." Well, okay, fine! But, mom takes me for walks all the time and we are not going to stop doing that (hehe, I'm her "work-out" partner). Anyone, and I mean anyone, who walks by, I jump on them. Most of the time I can't reach cause Mom holds me back, but sometimes I do reach them. I love when I win that game, but she says "some people don't like that" I am still a young pup of 6 months. I am extremely well behaved in all other areas, except that. Gee, I don't even bark! When I go to the doggy park, I play very nicely with the other dogs and honestly, I don't even notice the people that are there. I do, so much, love our walks..I just wish that I can keep jumping!
