Little Charlie's Passing

After a valiant struggle with a very aggressive and advanced mast cell cancer, Charlie took his last trip to the vet on February, 13, 2007. He was active and bright and feisty up until the last three days of his life when a rapidly growing internal tumor began putting pressure on a major nerve center, causing intense and ongoing pain. We got him comfortable with a narcotic patch and kept him around for a day so that his many friends and admirers could say goodbye to him. After a comfortable night and a day spent dozing and watching Law & Order reruns (his favorite) he was put to sleep peacefully on his favorite blanket. Little Charlie will be sorely missed by all the people who loved him and gave him his many nicknames: Morgansonne Palace Pony (his kennel name), Charlie ChocolateHead, Mr. Ptanga (when he was in his African dictator mood), Char-Char. . .By whatever name, he will be sorely missed.

Shameless Political Ramblings

I'm proud to flaunt my political affliation. I'm a purebred Democratic Doggie. I growl when Republicans and conservative talk show hosts appear on TV. In fact, sometimes (especially if it's someone totally heinous like Bill O'Reilly) I try to attack the TV. George W. and Condolezza Rice really send me into the RED ZONE. My owners have found out if they say, "Where's George Dubya?" I'll growl. Now they do it all the time and laugh and laugh. They think I'm kidding!

The great pet shop around the corner, Noe Valley Pets, made up great dog T-Shirts for the last election that said, "Democratic Doggies Vote for Kerry." And the store owner has the great good sense to have a Smooth Fox Terrier, Daisy, who looks like me. I may ask her to join with me and form a Democratic DogPAC. Since our local polling place is just down the street in someone's garage, I even got to go down with my owner and vote. Actually I didn't vote, but I looked very menacingly at people I thought might be voting Republican. Next election, I may resort to little nips to keep local voters in line!
