...soccer. So sad! Soooo sad! Mum is very proud though, the German team played awsome and although we were the best team in the whole world cup
;-) being third ain't that bad. Until 2010 of course!

Other than that not too much happened lately. Belle left to go back home but last weekend we ha another visitor, Scrappy, he just had surgery done so he was a little grumpy. Not the most fun guy to play with.

I started a new group, it's called Doggie Do Gooders please check it out!

Phew I need to get better in keeping this diary updated so much has been going on lately.
First of all there is that crazy soccer thing still going on in Germany. Mum is going nuts and is already so sad because it will be all over on teh 9th. So far germany has been really good they are in the halffinals now, they'll be playing Italy tomorrow. Our boys will be without Frings because of the silly Italians saying that he punched on of the players from Argentina after they played them last week. Well that won't help them to win either BOL.
Come on pups send some positiv thoughts to the German team.
Other than watching way too much soccer mum has met so many nice people from all ove rthe world, from Sweden, Switzerland, Brasil, England, Scotland, Italy, Norway and of cousre Germany. It's just been a blast.

Now for my personal stuff, aehm aehm, I am in a contest and would really love for you to vote for me. You can vote once every day throught he month of july. It is the Pampered Paws Boutique contest, and you can vote for me here. Thanks!

While there is fun and games in Germany ther hasn't been much but rain here.
As if that wouldn't be bad enough my pals Keenan and Kali and their family moved to Alaska. Now I don't know where that is but it must be far because ever since then we never went over to Alaska to play with them. That is sad because especially Kali I loved to paly with. Dad is a little sad,too because he and their parents were real good friends.

On a brighter side my loevely friend Belle is staying with us for two full weeks! OMD that is so exciting, all i get to do now is play and play and play some more. Here is a video of me and her palying if you like to see it. My own sister Belle won't ever play with me that much so this is really cool. Oh, here she comes again, gotta go and play some more!

Jodidogs needs our help

Hey Dogsters!
I'm sure that many of you are familiar with a couple of our wonderful members-- Jodi and
Cheesecake . If you are, you also know that they are the main spokesdogs for a wonderful rescue organization called Jodidogs Rescue, located in Estacada, Oregon. It is a small, sanctuary-type rescue located on 16 acres. Each of their dogs and cats was on the euthanasia list at a shelter. Many of us came to know and love Jodidogs such as Spoon, Underdog ,Tiger and Leah. As many of our Dogster members are rescues ourselves, we naturally came to love and admire Jodidogs' human administrators.

Sadly, due to the kinds of complicated problems that often bedevil small rescues, Jodidogs is going to have to close.

This wonderful organization that has helped so many (maybe even you!!) is now in need of OUR help. There are several animals that need placement either in forever homes or with other rescue groups. There are transport issues. There are other logistical problems that need your keen minds!

So, a group has been formed to try to help solve these problems. Won’t you join us? Everydog can contribute an idea, a rescue contact, a suggestion, or a cheer!

This is an open invitation to all Dogster members to join our group, Jodidogs Support, Ideas and Fund

And maybe, just maybe, you have room for a new friend at your house, or know someone who does. Jodidogs Rescue also has a Petfinders page.

Please join us to brainstorm, encourage and support!! We love Jodidogs—help us to help them!

Helping the pound puppys

***Re-posted with Jasmine's & Rex's blessings***

Hi Everywoof!

A lot of pups out there are wondering, "What can I do to help those pound puppies?" and we want to answer that question for them. So we're putting together an action list to help get the word out and help the doggies and kitties in animal shelters safely find a furever home!

Increase Awareness
An important first step is to increase awareness about the animals in need - they can never be forgotten.

-- Encourage news media (television news stations, local radios, newspapers, etc.) to feature an "Adoptable Pet of the Day/Week".
-- Write to city offcials (such as the mayor) about increasing support or funding for city-operated shelters.
-- Put a flashy ad in the Pet Classifieds section of the newspaper for your local humane society or shelter.
-- Encourage your shelter or humane society to create a website or make pages for it's pets on petfinder.com to increase awareness and to keep in touch with the community.
-- Find out if your shelter has any flyers that need to be distributed, and pass them out at pet stores or on your work's bulletein board to let people know of the need for adoptive homes and shelter volunteers.
-- Talk to your shelter about organizing a fundraising event. This would not only increase awareness, but the shelter would benefit immensely also! Or, simply participating in an existing fundraising event is just as much help.

Volunteer
For all of you who like to be right where the action is in supporting a good cause, volunteer work is for you. You can see the difference you make everyday!

-- Take care of the basic tasks for the comfort of the poochies and kitties. This can include: cleaning cages or pens, feeding and watering, grooming, exercising, and playing!
-- Offer to put your training skills to work with the older dogs at the shelter -- they often do not catch people's eye easily, but if they are well behaved it makes such a difference!
-- Offer to jazz up the kennels of the dogs that have been there for awhile -- find them a fresh collar or bandana to wear that is a bright color. Make them laminated signs to hang on their kennel door that highlights their best features. Give them an extra special grooming to make them shine, and give their kennel a fresh cleaning from top to bottom.
-- Put your vet skills to work -- even if you work at a practice already, the shelter would be very appreciative if you volunteered your time and skill on your days off to help the homeless pups. And plus, it's good public relations for your "real" vet practice!
-- Volunteer to help with the shelter website. You could take awesome, eye-catching pictures of the animals and come up with good descriptions for their adoption profiles.
-- Talk to your shelter about scheduling a "Meet N' Greet" day at your local pet store or park, where people can meet available animals and learn more about shelter programs. This is a great way to "rein in" possible adopters!
-- Offer to foster an animal or two. This frees up space in the shelters, and gives those animals that have a hard time finding a suitable home a chance to relax.

Prevention

-- Be a spay and neuter advocate to help prevent unwanted litters.
-- Say No to puppy mills -- let everyone (even the media! Especially the media!) know the horrors of these puppy mills. They have an effect on shelters as well.
-- Encourage and support no-kill shelters, as well as open-door shelters.
-- Help your shelter set up a Spay and Neuter campaign -- low-cost procedures done by volunteer vets can greatly reduce the amount of unwanted strays.

So there you have it pups, no reason why you can't find something, even just one thing, on that list that you can participate in. If you think of something else that should be on our handy-dandy Action List, bark about it here or send a p-mail!

World Cup countdown!

Only one more day until the world cup starts! I am just sooo excited! dad is rooting for the US team but mum (who has proven so many times that her taste is better, I mean after all she found me) wants the German team to win. They'll be playing Costa Rice tomorrow night and she is alresady nervous. Especially since our captain ballck might not be able to play. So let's all hope Borowski will do a good job playing in his place. You know the great thing about soccer (football as mum calls it) is that men and dogs agree on how important it is to play ball.

Other than soccer some weird things have been going on with the Phantom giving rosettes, but now I got a spooky anomynous rosette, too. This is what it says:

"I got five extra rosettes
Plus the fifteen left over.
I didn't know what to do -
so I gave one to YOU!

I will not release my identity
and am not the phantom.

Love,
???????

HINT: I am one of the twenty who recieved
a rosette"

Okay now some smart pup help me figure this out!

Oh and the wonderful Snoopy made me, TK belle and Momo cool glittery name-things that you can now admire on our pages. Thanks!

Last but not least a huge thank you to cheerio, the lovely lady who made me a cool soccer pic and Momo an awesome birthday-party-picture. You guys rock!

Joshi posted this in the D+ forum for Daddies Shannon and Jason and I just wanted to share it here because I think it is so beautiful

I Remember

I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying. You found it hard to sleep.

I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
"It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."

I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times your hands reached down to me.

I was with you at the shops today. Your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.

I was with you at my grave today, You tend it with such care.
I want to reassure you, that I'm not lying there.

I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said "It's me."

You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there.

It's possible for me to be so near you everyday.
To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."

You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew...
in the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.

The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning
and say "Goodnight, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."

And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side.

I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out... then come home to be with me.

Wow, a whole lot happened since I last wrote anything.

Aehm, well I don't wanna brag but I have to let you know that I was dogster's dog of the week! And what a week it was, soo much fun, sooo many nice things my pals had to say to me and such a proud mum. Thank you so much! It was truly a great week, I know I haven't gotten back to everywoof yet, but I am working on it. All the fan mail, the autographs, the interviews, flirting with all the girls...., it just takes up a lot of my time BOL.
But you know even when you are a superstar what it comes down to is your family, so i decided to take mine to one of the best places ever - the dogpark. We went yesterday and it was sooo much fun. My sister even met another greyhound adopted from the same rescue as she was. Our friends Keanan, Kali and Scrappy were with us,too, and we just ran and ran and played and ran somemore. See how smart I am? With my busy schedule I combineed quality time with friends and family with my special Elliot workout. Pretty good, eh?
Of course I had to make sure all the other dogs there knew that they were dealing with me: a celebrity. So I let all of them know that i was there and that they should not try to mess with me, because my very mean, very strong bodyguards (aka dad) were watching them closely. All the other pups accepted my absolut power (Elliot's mum here: yeah right) and it was all fun after that. Man I was tired afterwards, I just wanted to sleep all day long.
But being a superstar is tough, and when I got home there were all theses gifts people had sent me ( Elliot's mum: one), well I guess mum would not consider it a gift, since she paid for it, but I didn't so I say it's a gift. It's a new shirt Tama's mum made so I can look all sharp and handsome on my next tour.
Wen you are as famous as I am you also get to have your private chef - mine is also called mum and she made her delicious cheesecake today. Yummy! What? I don't get to have any? Man, but I am so cute and wait I am a superstar and they always get what they want! I demand cheesecake, NOW!
Pllase, please, please? Pretty please? See I am wagging my tail and looking at you with those innocent brown eyes...
Oh, gotta go she accidently dropped a piece... ( Elliot's mum: accidently,..right)

Dogster plus

I am a little worried about mum. At first she just thought Dogster was interesting, then she liked it, then she loved it, then dad called it her passion, now we are dogster plus members! I don't like her looking around on here too much though. I mean what if she falls in love with another dog and just leaves me? Just look at my pals they are all so adorable and so much cuter than I am. Yeah, that's right I am a small dog with huge personal issues, also I am very protective of my mum, so you other cute dogs, stay away from her! She's all mine.

Now that that's settled, my sisters are on Dogster now, too, you should check them out and become their friends, too!

Much love to all my wonderful pals!
