   Leave a bone for Wilbur

Willy, Heyyoustopeatingthat!, Fuzzbutt, Dustmop

Doggie Dynamics:
not playfulvery playful

Quick Bio:
-mutt-dog rescue

His big sister Star, walks, destroying toys, tummy rubs, seeing what he can get into, eating.

Bathtime, grooming, big dogs, wet grass. He's very much like a cat in wet grass - "What IS this stuff, ugh, my feet are WET!!"

Favorite Toy:
Rope toys, or anything he can destroy! This boy goes through Kongs in under an hour, and we even got him a "ballistic nylon" supposedly totally indestructable toy. It was gone in under twenty minutes. He LOVES plush toys, but he doesn't get many of them.

Favorite Food:
Any people food he can sneak or snitch. The more forbidden the better. He scared us once by eating a slice of chocolate cake, and he loves to jump up on the table to steal pizza. Oddly enough, he's not a beggar, he loves to swipe his meals. Silly boy.

Favorite Walk:
The dog park, as long as he is the biggest dog there other than his big sister. It's really the only place he gets to play much off-leash so we try to go there a few times a week so he can get out some of his endless energy!

Best Tricks:
Wilbur doesn't "do" tricks, but he can get into anything if he sets his mind to it. Child locks on the cupboard doors? No problem! If there's food there, he WILL find it! He's also great at getting out of the house to eat the neighbor's cat food!

Arrival Story:
We were looking for a companion for our other dog Star, so we returned to the same rescue. Since Star doesn't get along well with a lot of other dogs, we thought we would have to wait awhile before the perfect dog came along, but he was right there waiting for us! Him and Star hit it off instantly, though we had to wait until he was neutered before he could come home. Star was the undisputed queen of the household at first, but since she's started to age and slow down Wilbur's started to boss her around a bit. I think he'll be the king soon.

Wilbur is actually either extremely smart or a complete spazz...we're not sure which. After several years with our family, he still hasn't learned how to "sit" or ask to go outside, but he can weasel his way into the pantry, cupboards, tupperware, garbage cans...anywhere where there might be food. I think he's a really smart little dude who is just not motivated to please us at all. Regardless, he is a wonderful snuggle-buddy, super affectionate, and always up for any adventure. He loves to make grooming time into a game. He isn't afraid of the clippers but he doesn't really like them either, so if he sees them we get to play 'chase' until he's tired. Fortunately, by that time he's too tired to put up much of a fight while I'm grooming him.

Aaaah, Wilbur. "Challenge" is not a strong enough word for you. You teach me something new every time I see you, and I appreciate these lessons. You are fun, quirky, stubborn, and too smart for your own (or any dog's) good. Though I get frustrated with you sometimes, I want you to know that I wouldn't have you any other way.

This is a special Tail of Devotion

Mom took Star on a walk WIHOUT ME! I sat and cried and cried at the door, but one of the other humans came and played with me after awhile so it was OK, I guess. When Star got back she was really scared about something and wouldn't play with me, but she seems okay now.

I almost caught the cat-thing again today. I jumped up to the edge of the pool table to grab her down and Mom got all mad and squirted me! I don't see why, I just want to play with the cat-thing!! After all, if Star doesn't want to play, who am I supposed to play with?! I'll try again later.

One of the humans is missing, and has been for a few days. I don't know where he's gone, but the other humans have been home more since he left so it's not so bad. He used to get mad when they gave me people food, so I get lots more of it now. People food is the best. And cat food. And dog food. And wrappers. And cardboard. And wood....
