Arrival Story: My boyfriend's sister brought a Chihuahua over to meet the gang (my 3 dogs). And they loved him. They love all dogs, but I was so impressed with this little guy. He wasn't scared and he played with them so well. I always wanted him over. Before I had only seen mean Chihuahuas, so I never cared for them. Yet he stole my heart. I decided to research the breed and see if I had what it took to care for these Chis. I quickly found I liked appleheads. I also wanted very tiny. I wanted the spotted, rare kind (merle I think it is). Well, I found out breeders want a fortune for tiny, and basically a mortgage payment on top of that for merle. So I settled for tiny. I eventually found Arwen. I saw photos of Blue Velvet (breeder's name for Arwen). I fell in love. Blue Velvet was born on St. Patrick's Day. She was the only survivor in her litter. She was lucky to be alive. She was very small. I had to wait a while until she was big enough to leave the breeder's since she was so small. The breeder wasn't expecting such a small puppy. She was the smallest she ever had. So Blue Velvet was extra special. I got to watch her grow up through photos and stories and video emailed to me. I mailed her toys to play with. After a few more weeks I finally got her and it was love at first site for the both of us.
Bio: I never thought I'd get another dog, let alone a 3-pound Chihuahua. Arwen is a gray Chihuahua, but the breeder called her blue. She has white toes and triangle on her chest. (I call it the Eiffel Tower). My hope is to train her to be a therapy dog for Geriatrics and to become a Teacup Agility Dog. She hardly barks at all, and is very smart. She is still in basic obedience training. She is very quiet. She barely speaks. But she is a huge cuddler. (Or maybe it's wanting the body heat thing). She and Kiara are best friends. Kiara is very careful with her and when Arwen touches her, Kiara falls over as if he were hit by full force. Arwen is named from
"Lord of the Rings". She is the Princess Elf. Arwen is just as magical. She is agile and fearless. Well fearless at home, it take her a minute to warm up and trust you but when she does her personality shines. And she's fast for her size. She is a toy hoarder. She loves rawhides, balls and stuffed squeaky toys. She has a favorite toy of the moment. Sometimes I think she has A.D.D. because she'll play with one toy then another 2 seconds later. She can play with 10 toys in 1 minute! Kiara loves to steal them from under her and they will play tug of war a lot. She loves to romp and play. She recently learned to play fetch with a mini tennis ball. She loves balls. She also is a Mama's girl and she and Dawson share my lap with Skylar at my side and Kiara at my feet. If I say "kisses", she kisses you. (All my dogs do that actually.) But her kisses aren't slobbery since she is so tiny. Arwen is very tiny but has a huge heart.

Birthday: March 17, 2005
Friday there was a costume contest. The dog store was decorated with webs, and lots of fun spooky stuff. There were treats for everyone and a raffle. There were about 30 animals entering the contest. Most are dogs, but a few cats braved the scene.
We were all numbered. Amadeus and I went. Amadeus was a pirate, and I wore my 50's outfit with the Poodle skirt... I mean Chihuahua skirt.
1st place went to a booder collie as Sailor Moon.
2nd place me!
3rd place a young cat with Angel wings.
I won a gift certificate, dog food and dog treats! Yay!! I'm told I have to share my winnings with my family. I'm not allowed to get all fat off of it my own.
I thought it was really cool I won. I'm so excited. Ami and I were the only Chis there. There were some Papions, mutts, pit bulls, labs, pekeapoos, and all sorts of breeds. Ami made over the laides as usual. He was nervous and cold. He stayed inside of Daddy's jacket a lot. I wanted to be held too. Mommy held me most of the time. But a lot of ppl wanted my picture. So I stood for pics too.
It was a fun night. I hope Dawson, Skylar and Kiara can try one day too.
Wow! I can't believe it's my birthday! And I got my two wishes!
Wish one was to get better! I had a little cold ysterday. I had a tummy ache and the sniffles. I got better last night. Then wish two... it will be 70 degrees today! I got a warm day for my birthday! I'm so excited! It will drop 20 degrees tomorrow, so I'm blessed that the warm day fell on my birthday!
As my gift, Mommy took me to work today so I wouldn't be alone for my birthday. I got on my green and pink pearly dress for St. Patrick's Day and am snuggled up in my bed watching Mommy work. I'm so happy!
Now if only my biggest wish wil come true. I hope Kiara feels better. She pinched her back again. She isn't doing well. I'm hoping the medicine wil kick in and the inflamation will go down so she feels better. Poor girl!

Why is it when a pup hurts in this family we all fall apart all at once? I'm sick today and Kiara hurt her back!
I was in bad shape last Thursday and I think it lowered my immuned system, becausse I have a bad tummy ache today. I just laid on my side all morning and wanted to do nothing. I didn't care that the weather is warmer. I just wanted to stay in the snuggly blankets and have my pain gone.
Kiara is the same way. She's on meds and I got extra food just in case. Daddy just thinks I have a cold so not to worry too much. But they're keeping a close eye on me.
I can't be sick. Tomorrow is my barkday! I just have to be better tonight. There's no other course.
