Likes: I love running through the fields, watching the birds fly up and the bunnies go hopping
Pet-Peeves: Being ignored when I want to play
Favorite Toy: scootsie balls, they're soft and Mom and Dad kick them for me in the house
Favorite Food: All right, now I'm doing well on Innova, but I love morning toast!
Favorite Walk: Up in the hills, where cars can't go and I can run free
Best Tricks: Sit, shake both paws, speak, roll over, and catching two balls in my mouth
Arrival Story: Mom wanted another Dachshund, but Dad wanted a big dog to take charge of the yard, and have a good personality. Dad read about all the different breed temperaments and found that Golden Retrievers and Labrador Retrievers got along well with other dogs. Buster has more than lived up to that, he's so good with Mocha and loves her dearly.
Bio: Buster's Grandfather was a champion hunting Golden Retriever from back East, and was out for a visit to California. While he was visiting, he was allowed to play with Buster's Grandmother Labrador Retriever. Buster's Mom looked like a purebred Golden Retriever, his Dad was a long-haired black retriever. Buster had two blond brothers and three black sisters, all long haired. It was really hard to choose, but Buster was the calmest.
Forums Motto: Buster, Wild Mountain Dog!
I've Been On Dogster Since:
Last night Mom turned off the lights and I settled down for a good night's sleep on my sofa. The only problem was that Mom forgot to cover up Chirp's cage, and at 2:30 a.m. his constant running back and forth on his long perch to stay warm kept disturbing my sleep. I decided to go into the bedroom where there was a nice mattress on the floor at the end of the bed for some peace and quiet. Ahhh! I fell into a deep sleep, but my snoring and jaw chomping woke up the little Dachshund Diva, so she woke up Mom. Mom put Mocha down on the floor and followed her to the waterbowl, then the Lazy Boy chair, so Mom crawled back into bed, thinking that all was well. Finally Mom heard Chirp running back and forth, so she got up to check on him and pulled his cover down. That's one smart parakeet!
I was waiting for Mom to say goodbye to Linda so that we could continue our hike when out of the corner of my eye, I could see Mr. Bye-Bye, Linda's Russian Blue, looking at me from the corner of the planter. Mom said: "Buster! Stay!" but I couldn't stop myself from going over for a better sniff. "Buster!! SIT!!!" so I sat as Mr. Bye-Bye walked across the driveway. Then I followed, two feet behind Mr. Bye-Bye, my own tail following horizontally behind me, and Mom and Linda started cracking up. Another: "Buster! STOP!" and I sat mournfully and watched Mr. Bye-Bye disappear into the bushes. Sigh!
Dad let me ride in the back of his wagon and Mocha sat up front on Mom's lap. We met Rose who took good care of us and we both came home smelling wonderful and with trimmed nails. Mom was going to give both of us a bath because the weather was perfect, but decided to splurge and take it easy for a change. They both thought that it was too quiet while we were gone...
