Goodbye to our Sweet Lucy girl...

Steve and I said goodbye to our dear Lucy girl at 10:30am on Saturday February 20th.
When we arrived at the vet she was wagging her tail, and was so happy and loved on all the folks she saw. As always she was completely in the moment.

She laid down on her favorite blanket, and she assured us that it was okay and we were doing the right thing at the right time. I held her sweet face in my hands and looked into her eyes. She was gone so quickly and peacefully. She just....stopped.

There was a mixture of relief, heartache, and a river of tears.
We hugged her one last time, then they took her. They wrapped her up, put her remains in a box and wheeled her out to us. There was a small pink sheet of paper with her name and actual paw print on it like a fingerprint.
Upon seeing that, I lost it all over again.

Then we drove out to the Basset Rescue in Woodinville. Alexa graciously offered a place for Lucy to be buried on their land. We took her out of the box and put her in the grave. She was wrapped up in her favorite blanket, we had tulips and put them all around her on the blanket, said goodbye one last time, and covered her up. It was perfect.

In my dreams you are running, barking at all the dogs and keeping them in line.

Lucy, we had a wonderful two years, thank you for coming into our lives. We were glad to give you a forever home. I love you.

I had a big bump on the inside of my mouth a while ago...Well I got this bump in my neck now. It is really big and although I still eat, drink, and play with Sam...I've been sleeping more. I just don't feel right.

I am ok!!

I had two bumps and now they are both gone. One on my lip was a benign melanoma, and there was a big thing inside called a "large mass of inflamed tissue". No "C" word. I am ok.....Whoopy!!
