Leave a bone for Edward, at the Bridge (1/4/05)

Nicknames: Bugs, Sir Bugalots, Beast, Sir Beastalots, Maguffy-gumps, Busticus Bugnutticus (Latin name), P. Bustus (street name), Mr. Tippykins

Quick Bio:
Likes: squirrels, asparagus, cheese, his sheepy-skin, hoses

Pet-Peeves: cats, smoke alarm, being ignored, celery, baths, ear-cleaning, toenail clipping, coffee, "deer" (big, nasty long-legged dogs!)

Favorite Toy: floppy disk (soft frisbee), Dino the Dinosaur, his football

Favorite Food: bread

Favorite Walk: the P-A-R-K

Best Tricks: "Wait...wait...wait....okay go ahead!" and "paw-paw"

Arrival Story: Edward is a pet shop boy (yes, I KNOW). Right before my husband and I got married, he got Edward for me. Since I already had a cat, Edward lived with his "dad" until we got married, so I missed all the important stuff (like potty training). My sister-in-law Deirdre (a nurse) was the only person with enough patience to teach him tricks.

Bio: Even though he is a senior dog, Ed still carries on much like he did as a puppy. He gets the "Evening Crazies" in the evenings... and in the afternoons... and in the mornings.
We found a huge lump on Edward right before Christmas. We knew it probably wasn't very good, but didn't know how bad it truly was. Right after New Year's we brought him to our vet who told us it was a mass on his spleen, most likely cancerous and that after surgery to remove it, it likely would grow back very rapidly. He went into surgery the next morning, but it was already too late. We never got a chance to love on him for his remaining days or to say good-bye. I guess the extra time would have been hardest. We miss him very much and will always miss him, even though we have Teddy now.
