Likes:
Sleeping, mostly. She was going on 15 years old when I wrote this, so she didn't get around much any more. Although she simply ADORED rides in the car. She turned into a puppy when she heard, "Ya wanna go bye-bye???" She danced around like a maniac!
Pet-Peeves:
She was the calmest dog I've ever had...don't think she has a pet peeve, unless it's eating the special diet food for dogs with kidney disease. Oh, and she hated cheese. She spit it out. She took it, of course, cuz she's a Cocker....but then "pufh."
Favorite Toy:
She really didn't play with toys.....
Favorite Food:
Anything that humans eat. But, she was diagnosed 4 years ago when I adopted her from the shelter, with kidney disease, so she eats Prescription KD, and isn't much of a fan.
Favorite Walk:
Any place I go, she wants to go to. Car ride? Yippee!!!! She's got arthritis in her hips, so walking isn't her favorite thing.
Best Tricks:
She talks. When I walk into the house she has this way of barking that basically sounds like talking. She's so excited that she just HAS to tell me how her day as been. It's so funny! She also dances in circles when she's excited (or, wants to go out!
Arrival Story:
As a shelter volunteer, when they receive a Cocker Spaniel, I volunteer to take it to my groomer to get it neat and tidy, clean and fluffy, to make it more adoptable. When my shelter received "Misty," or "Clara," (they weren't sure of her name), she was all matted and urine soaked. She was quite the sight. You couldn't even tell that she was a Cocker Spaniel. Well, once the groomer got done with her, she was BEAUTIFUL! She has the prettiest Cocker face...she's very curly, and when her hair gets long, she looks like a little black sheep! Anyway, once I got her groomed, there was no way I was giving her back to the shelter. I adopted her that day, on August 30, 2002. When I took her to my vet for a once-over, they found some mammary lumps which were cancerous. So, the vet did a complete mastectomy and she's been just fine the past four years!! The pre-operative blood tests came back with kidney disfunction. She eats a special diet, and hopefully she'll be with us for a long time to come!
Bio:
LuckyJo is the sweetest little dog....so gentle and kind. My Cocker, Lady, who just went to Rainbow Bridge on 12-27-05, was my Alpha, the bossy one. LuckyJo is simply the nicest and kindest, and most gentle dog I've ever had. She's either going deaf or now just has selective hearing, I can't really tell which. It may be the latter, as she can usually hear the Pup-a-Roni bag when it makes noise!

Favorite thing to do::
CAR RIDES!!!!! If we mention "go bye-bye" to her, she goes NUTS and runs and jumps and dances in circles. Once in the car, she just lays down and chills out. She just LOVES being in a car for some reason!
Medical malady::
Kidney disease. She eats special food and takes medicine for it; it's been keeping her well for the past 4 years.....hopefully it will for more years to come!
Current medical situation::
LuckyJo had complete blood tests and full x-rays recently, and she's healthy, although she's down to 22 pounds, cuz she won't eat very much. She's 14.5 years old, and I think is finally ready to go to Rainbow Bridge. She gave me "the look" last night (12-12-06) that said, "Mom, I'm ready." It'll be a very difficult decision, but I don't want her to suffer.
Rainbow Bridge::
I came to the Rainbow Bridge on Friday, December 15, 2006. It was time for mom to let me go. Even though the tests came back okay, I simply didn't have the energy to go on. My parts were worn out and I was tired. I was no longer eating, and weighed only 20.4 pounds this morning at the vet's office. It was time for mom to let me go; she did the right thing. She was there to hold me and tell me how much she loved me. She told me what a good girl I was........and, now I'm at the Bridge with my sisters Lady and Lucky. I miss my mom; she's sad at Christmas time, cuz it reminds her of when I had to come to the Bridge.
