Arrival Story:
I researched BMD's for four yrs. before I met Dakota's mom at a local dog show. In addtion to Dakota's mom, several of her pups from a previous litter were in town for the show as well -it was like a mini-renuion. Eight months later Dakota's mom had another litter. I traveled 18hrs round-trip one weekend to pick up her up in Virginia. Tucked in her big crate her first night home; Dakota howled like a wolf as soon as the lights were off and she was left alone. I placed a pallet down next to her crate and laid beside her that night - she slept like a babe.

Bio:
All of Dakota's mom's litters have Hawaiian themes. Dakota's litter was the Hawaiian Navigational litter. I selected the her formal name, Makaniakua, which loosely translates to "strong spirit wind".
