Arrival Story:
After my America Eskimo passed away, Shelby was very lonely and depressed. So, for two months, Shelby and I searched the internet, met with fostered dogs, went to shelters and SPCAs all over the Bay Area. At Peninsula Humane Society (PHS), Shelby and I interviewed with Jojo (aka Joseph) three times, until we were sure that Shelby would always be the boss, have the lead, wherever or whatever we did. I also interviewed a new puppy at the pound who looked EXACTLY like Shelby, but Jojo stole my heart, plus his caretaker explained that Jojo has had a taste of freedom before ending up at PHS where he stayed for a few months!! Two attempts were made to adopt him, but apparently they did not pass home inspection. I had the sturdy fence! Jojo was the best thing that happened to us. Shelby, having just turned 7, okay, 8, okay 9 years old, with Jojo around, she acts as if she's only two years old! Jojo is sooo good to her; he plays with her when SHE wants, and stops when SHE says so. He licks her ears till she falls asleep, then he sneaks up next to her, squirms his way so as to have her spoon him, then Mom comes in and spoons them, And we don't move 'till we wake up.

It's amazing how my bullies know the difference between a work day and a weekend. My hiking shoes are a dead giveaway for them that it's a weekend and we're going on a hike or to the beach. AND Jojo has become quite the surfer at Maverick's Beach!! On weekdays, when the work clothes are on, they don't even bother getting out of bed. Sometimes, when I come home from work, they're still in bed!! Ahhh, to have a dog's life!!
