Favorite Toy:
He loved any type of ball, baseball, basketball, tennis ball, etc.

Favorite Food:

Favorite Walk:
In the field across the street from his house

Best Tricks:
Donder would jump up on a drinking fountain any time he wanted water at the park and would drink from the fountain like a human. He also understood the word bread. If he was given bread, he knew it was time to go to bed.

Arrival Story:
Donder was a family dog. On December 7, 1993, my mom brought Donder home. He was a puppy, about 6 mos. old, found wandering near her job site. I remember how pink his nose was and how soft he was. The first night of his arrival, I remember him leaning against a kitchen cupboard, looking up at me with his gold eyes. It ended up being a regular routine with me and him to sit on the kitchen floor and look into each other's eyes. I would give him massages and he would enjoy every minute of it. He immediately adapted to our home and became best friends with our border collie, Phoenix. There were 2 other dogs around when Donder came into our lives. He accepted them because they came before him, but Phoenix was his woman the second they met. To the day he died, Phoenix was the only dog he loved.

Bio:
In November 2003, Donder was diagnosed with bone cancer. When I found out, I couldn't believe it. I had moved out on my own earlier in the year, so a lot of time had passed since I last saw Donder prior to his diagnosis. I visited him several times after I found out the horrible news. Happily, Donder got to go on one last camping trip to his favorite place, Joshua Tree National Park. My entire family thought that he was going to pass away while on our camping trip, but he kept on pushing to stay alive. There were several moments when it seemed like Donder wasn't sick. He ate and ate and ate and still had the spark in his eyes of gold. Eventually, the cancer did take over, to the point that Donder could no longer move. On February 13, 2004, Donder went over the rainbow. I still miss Donder very much. The pain of missing him is still very strong. Donder and I had a connection and as silly as some may believe, our connection was like a love affair. I posted a few pictures that depict that connection. He had such an intense look in his eyes. Anytime I would look at him, it would be as if he were looking into my soul. In fact, a couple of days before his death, I was able to look into eyes one last time. When he was looking at me, it was as if he was telling me to not be sad. It seems just like yesterday when he was a puppy with a bright pink nose. In Donder's honor, I now stand up for the pitbulls. Many places are banning pitbulls as pets because there are too many ignorant people not being responsible with their pitbulls. Any animal will turn out kind or vicious, depending on how it is treated by humans. Donder was a very gentle soul because he had a loving home from the time he was a puppy. It upsets me that pitbulls are being singled out. No breed should be singled out. Too many ignorant people own pitbulls. All dogs are innocent and they solely depend on their humans for love. What does one expect of any dog if it only experiences negativity from humans?
