I came to stay with my momma as a foster for Basset Buddies Rescue. I was a bit of a mess. After being a foster for a whole year...and being nursed lovingly back to health, my momma finally annouced I was home all along.

Learning to walk

December 5, 2006 "He can't walk!"

Bullet was diagnosed with Spondylosis about 6 months ago. We would see some symptoms most specifically the crossing of his back legs, stumbling and so on. People were often amazed that it never seemed to slow hm down. He would run and play with the rest of the pack. If he stumbled and fell he would get back up - shake himself - and be off and running again. We never told him he might have an issue!

On the morning of Tuesday, December 5, we woke up to see him dragging himself around. He had lost the use of his back legs. It happened too quickly as far as we were concerned...even though he had issues it still seemed to happen overnight!

Bullet was given a shot of Dexamethasone to help with possible reduction of any swelling. Unfortunately all is did was increase his thrist and, of course, his need to go outside!

The future will be quite interesting for our Bullet!
