Likes: Tennis Balls! Woo hoo! And getting up on whatever couch or chair you've just been sitting in. She loves being around people, like most cockers. She also loves going outside and chasing the squirrels that invade her turf!
Pet-Peeves: She hates her paws being touched, and that makes toenail clipping a little difficult. :)
Favorite Toy: Same as above, her millions of tennis balls!
Favorite Food: Anything but her diet dog food!
Favorite Walk: Just around the neighborhood, sometimes to the park down the street.
Best Tricks: Sit's about all she knows! She is smart, she just plays dumb sometimes. :)
Arrival Story: Well when I (the human) was 5, my brother had just been born 6 months before, and my dad said "Every little boy needs a dog," so we got her! I don't remember all the details since I was so young, but I do remember bringing her home in a small box, the box was huge compared to her! I'm not sure if she was the runt, but she was smaller than most of the other pups. But she was the cutest!
Bio: Taci is just a sweetheart. We've had her since I was 5 years old! She's 15 now, and is starting to have some health problems. She has at least a 3 or 4 grade heart murmur, and she's developed a cough that won't go away. Since no antibiotic has helped, we suspect it's probably her heart. :( I don't know how long she can keep this up, poor girl. The cough wears her out, and there's nothing that can help it. But she's still a happy girl, always the fighter! We also think she's lost most of her hearing, if not all of it. She's still loves to play ball and go for walks. She also loves getting treats after she goes outside. She now thinks that if she goes outside and doesn't go potty, she'll get a treat anyway. Nice try! She always acts extra cute for them, raring up like a horse and bouncing around like she's still a puppy. She feels like she MUST lay down on everything that gets put on the floor. She loves taking your seat when you get up to get a drink or something. I swear she acts just like a little toddler sometimes, if she's mad at you for any reason at all, she will completely ignore you and go lay in a corner with her back facing you. I think that about covers it, she is a big part of our family.
On June 18, 2008, we made the tough decision to put Taci to sleep. She was 2 days short of being 15 and a half. I believe it was kidney failure, but I'll never know for sure. I'll spare you the details and say that she was definitely ready to go, and she went peacefully and quickly. We all love her so much and will miss her terribly. She was my first dog, and there will never be another like her. :)
Forums Motto: Give me the ball, and no one gets hurt!
Sweet Taci, what can I say? You've been around for most of my life. I was 5 when we got you, and you were with me through all the formative years. Now that I'm grown, I cherish the time we have left even more. You have been such a wonderful friend to me and the rest of the family. I've been around a few more cockers besides you, and I have to say, none have been as sweet as you. That's the truth! There will never be another like you, that's for sure! You're one-of-a-kind! You're not doing well health-wise lately, and I just want you to know that whatever happens, you've been the best dog anyone could ask for. Sure you're not perfect, certainly a little frustrating sometimes. But you love life more than any creature I've seen, and you take everything thrown at you in stride, even your heart condition. It's been a wonderful 14 years, and I hope you can spend a few more with us. :)
It's been WAY too long since I've written in my diary! So I thought I'd give you all an update on my condition.
Well, I am one sick puppy! A couple months ago, I started developing a cough. I was taken to the vet and the wife vet (it's a husband and wife team) thought it might be allergies. So I was put on an omino fatty acid and an antibiotic, just in case it was an infection. Neither one did any good, I actually got worse! So back to the vet I went, and this time I got the husband vet. He took a bunch of blood tests, all came back clear! No infection, no nothing. My lungs sounded clear, yet I was coughing CONSTANTLY! During the next couple weeks they tried a couple more antibiotics, cough medicines, benadryl, anything that could possibly relieve my coughing. Nothing helped a bit! So I went back one more time and he listened to my heart and lungs some more, he said my lungs still sounded clear but my heart sounded tired. He said there's at least a grade 3 or 4 murmur, which we already knew about. But he said even when he listened on my back, he could still hear the murmur! So he said it's a pretty signifigant one. They tried one more thing, a medicine that's supposed to be for asthma. He thought it might help me. A couple weeks have gone by since then, and that hasn't helped either. :( So he said there's ONE MORE medicine they can try, it's a new heart medicine they just got in. So I'll be going back to get that soon. If it doesn't help, they dont know what else to do for me. It's likely my heart is progressing towards congestive failure, so if that's the case then all they can do is make me as comfortable as possible. I don't know what's going to happen, but for now I'm hanging in there! Still the same old happy girl, just a little more tired. I have good days and bad, some days I feel great and others I don't wanna move. My mom says when it gets to the point when there are more bad days than good ones, it'll probably be time to let me go. I don't really know what that means, but it doesn't sound good! For now I'm just enjoying time with my family, like always! :)
Each player starts with seven random facts about themselves. Cats/Dogs who are tagged need to write about themselves (the seven random facts) as well as the rules in their diary. You need to select seven cats/dogs to tag and list their names. Don't forget to leave them a comment (via p-mail) telling them that they've been tagged and that they need to read your diary for more information.
MY SEVEN FACTS
1. I love going for walks! Sometimes I go bounding into the kitchen and point my nose right at the kitchen door. Mom thinks it's so funny!
2. I survived getting hit by a pick-up truck! Thanks to an amazing emergency vet who came in while on vacation. I was hit so hard it split my back clean open, but amazingly I had no broken bones or internal injuries!
3. I hate to get baths, but afterwards is great! I love rolling around and rubbing all over the furniture. :)
5. I love kitties! My bridge brother Gato is the only kitty who was never once afraid of me, I loved having him around. :)
6. Tennis balls are my favorite toy. I almost never play with anything else!
7. I love smiling, it makes me happy as well as the people around me!
