Last night, uncle wrote a diary entry that took more than a hour, lost the connection and the whole entry, so this will be entered in small bits.
The first weekend of June, my mommy had to make a trip to see her family. There were two birthdays and also their St Bernard bit their small older dog, but it wasn't that bad.
When mommy leaves, I get to stay with uncle. When I have stayed with uncle before, I've gotten a tick, a broken toe and get to eat food that only makes me sick when I go home to mommy. This time turned out better.
My mommy left late in the morning, and uncle picked me up after work. He took me for a short walk, then he went to a hardware store without me. Why can't I go to the stores with him? He brought back a lot of stuff and left it in the garage. Then we went to a park in town. We walked around a lot but it was not that much fun, just tiring. By the time that we drove to uncle's, it was almost dark.
I woke uncle up at 4:30 Saturday morning, I thought than I had to go outside, but I didn't. Uncle went back to bed and I got the couch. Later that morning, uncle put a lot of tools in the truck, and a box that goes in front of the seat so that I have a bigger place to lay down. We went back to mommy's house. I spent most of the day in the front yard while uncle did little fixes to the house. I just watched everthing in the neighborhood and behaved very well.
Later in the afternoon, it got cloudy, and there was a little thunder. Uncle put away his tools, and we went to Asbury park. We went to the big field. We walked the outside path once, then started around the second time. It was starting to sprinkle, but uncle kept going. I wanted to go back, and when more rain came down, we started to walk back, and then run, by the time we were in the truck, it was raining hard.
We went to a drive thru and we each had a cheeseburger and split a fry. I slept all the way back to uncles house, and then I slept from 7 til 6 the next morning.
Sunday morning came too early for me! We got in the truck and went to mommy's. Uncle finished up his projects by noon. We went to a drive thru and we each had two cheeseburgers and fries. I went to sleep and when I woke up, we were in Union City. We went to a tractor dealership owned by someone that uncle used to work with. He wanted me to leave a present right in front of the door, but I didn't have to go! Then we went to find someone with a chocolate lab to play with, but they were not home.
We went to the Union City dry dam.Uncle said that the water was too fast on the downstream side for me to swim, so we walked up the bottom of the other side. It was windy, cold and dark. It was good exercise tho. We left to go back to uncles' house.
Halfway back, the sun came out. We went back to Asbury park. We went straight thru the field, into the woods and down a steep trail. I could hear the water running! The water was clear and warm. We walked right into the middle, some places were deep enough for me to swim. I splashed in the water, and uncle splashed me, too! I had so much fun! This is the best way to take a bath! I was so tired that I didn't fight much when it was time to go. We sat on a platform in the field so that the wind would dry me. As soon as I was in the truck, I went to sleep. I slept good when we got back to uncles, too.
The next morning, uncle dropped me off at mommy's house and mommy came home at noon.
I think that uncle had as much fun as me!

For as long as space endures
And as long as living being remain
Until then may I too abide
To dispel the misery of the world
The first time that I saw my real home, I had just awoke from a long ride in mommy's car. I checked around the family room and the kitchen and was happy to see that I was the only dog - or so I thought! When I looked into
the oven door, another dog about my size looked back at me! I barked alot to warn mommy and ran back into the family room! I carefully came back to the kitchen, and the other dog was still there. So I ran back and forth not knowing what to do, and all the while uncle was laughing! The last time that I came back, there was a towel hanging on the oven door, and that scary dog was gone. I was proud for chasing him out of the house, but now I know that it was my own reflection!
Mommy gave me a box with a door and a blanket, lots of toys and plastic over the carpet in my room. She also gave me two leather couches. I had so much fun chewing my toys and exploring when I was home alone. But when mommy came home and saw how good a job I did with the leather couch, she would point and say " Charlie, did you do this?". I looked to the left, to the right and then at the ceiling. I don't know anything about any couches! And that goes double for shoes!
My yard has a tall fence and every thing inside is mine. I like to take the potted plants from the patio into the family room and shake all the soil out.
Mommy knows how much fun that is for me, so she forgives me.
But I think that I upset her once. She saw that there was a cute little frog living around her house, and one day she saw it jump under the patio, I ran in after it, and when I came out, I was licking my lips. I don't know if I ate it or not, but mommy was sad. She doesn't mind me eating bugs.
Next time, I will tell you about my boo-boos

I want uncle to tell you my story. Some time ago, and very far away, my mommy had another German Shepherd named Charlie. He was a very handsome and special friend. My mommy has had good times, bad times,
and has had to work hard since then. My mommy often thought about first Charlie. Uncle would often tell her about his Alex and all the things that they
did together. Before I was born, mommy asked uncle "do you thing I should
get a dog?" Uncle said yes. Mommy asked "but what if something happens and
I can't take care of him?" Uncle said that he would.
So they checked the Humane Society for any puppies like me. They drove
across town to look at puppies. But I know that mommy was looking for me.
They saw an add for puppies about 50 miles away, so they came down to see me. Uncle didn't like the looks of the place where I was and told mommy that
they shouldn't even stop. Mommy is brave and wanted to see, so they came
in the "house".
There were three of us, and I think that somehow I was older than the other
two. I was thin, had white stuff in my fur, and didn't jump and run like the
other two. The people in the house brought two big dogs from behind the
junk pile behind the house and mommy and uncle looked at them through
the window. Uncle asked mommy if she wanted to drive around for a while
to decide. (so they could escape!) But she said "no" , that would take one ,
and she was holding and looking at me!
I did not feel good, and slept most of the way home, but I heard uncle ask
mommy if she had thought of a name, and she said "CHARLIE!"
Mommy's house was neat and clean when I first saw it. She gave me good
food and took me to the vet very soon. I had medicine to take, and went to the vet often. Uncle says that if mommy had not rescued me, I wouldn't have lasted much longer. That first day I had a cardboard box with my favorite blanket in the kitchen, and lots of toys.
I want uncle to tell you about my adventures when there is time.
