Arrival Story:
Chang is the sister of Pao, my first Peke, and came to us when she was just over a year old.

Bio:
She was meant to be a breed dog, but was not suited. She hadn't been treated well and was nervous. Her coat was short and ragged. In 1996 I put her in for our local dog show in Spitalfields, and she won Supreme Champion! Our proudest moment. The pink picture is a portrait of Chang and Pao painted by an artist who stopped me in London Fields one day and asked to photograph them. Sheena Vallely, the artist, painted dogs. The next I heard was an invitation to a gallery opening some months later where I saw the painting. And of course had to buy it. It's quite big at 4ft (122cm) x 2ft (61cm), and the pink really strikes home! Today (25 July 2007) at 11.45 London time, Chang died. She had had cancer of the mouth for the last few months, which progressively worsened along with the pain of it. I decided it was time to release her. Her vet came to our house and as he administered the anaesthetic, her head sank slowly to the cushion she was lying on as I spoke to her. She died peacefully and with dignity. Chang was my companion for 15 years. I miss her so.
