Arrival Story: My name is Kagra and I'm the ultimate staff favorite dog here. You ask, then why am I still here? Well, I'm deaf and that scares people, but unlike humans, being deaf is really no big deal for dogs. I'm already exceptionally trained and know basic hand commands, I'm housetrained, great with most dogs, and just adore people. I'm easy going when I need to be but also love to play. I only bark when I'm missing my people and I sleep like a baby because I can't hear! I'm spayed too! That not enough? Well, I'm smart as a whip, love kids, and am super silly! My only downside is no kitties for me. Boy oh boy, I love to chase them! So, I've resigned myself to living here at HSHC but staff says I deserve the best home since I'm such a great girl and that person will come. 20+ people can't be wrong!

Here are the first pictures of Daisy (who was known as Kagra while at the HSHC, now also known as Miss Daisy and Lil' Piggy). She's sleeping in one and lounging in the other, two of her favorite activities. She has made herself right at home on the couch and on my bed: she loves to lounge on piles of pillows! Daisy is indeed house trained, and we've had no "accidents" yet nor has she chewed on "toy-like objects" (so far!). She has gone to doggie daycare in Highlandtown a few times and gets along great w/the other dogs. We are learning American Sign Language together -- she's catching on very quickly and responding very well to it! Right now we're working on learning "good", "sit", "out," and "food/treat". I am so very happy that I was allowed to adopt her. She's an absolute angel! Her sweet demeanor, confidence, and excellent behavior are a real tribute to the quality of care and sincere love she received during her extended stay at HSHC. She is so well adjusted that it's hard to believe she was w/o a "forever home" for most of her 1.5 years! But God has a plan, and I am grateful to be part of that plan for Daisy's life. She's a real blessing.
