Arrival Story:
I had been begging my fiance for a dog for months. Just a week after our wedding (just before Christmas) I showed him a newspaper clipping of the "pet of the week" at the local animal shelter. He just wouldn't give in. On Christmas Day I found the newspaper clipping in my stocking. Finally I could get a dog! I was getting off work and my friend decided to ride to the shelter with me, a day or so after Christmas. We asked about the featured pet, but of course it had been adopted already. I decided to check out the cages of the dogs up for adoption. Only large breed dogs and one shaggy looking thing shrinking back in the cage. Since I had a weight restriction from the apartment complex to think about, I decided I would just come back later. But my friend asked about the shaggy little dog. I decided to give her one more look... and the shyness melted away. She came running to the front of the cage... and it was love at first sight. My Roux dog hasn't left my side since.

Bio:
We took days to settle on a name for Roux. Nothing seemed to fit... her ears were huge compared to the rest of her head. We batted around Kanga (like a Kangaroo) and other Aussie names... then I just thought Roux. We settled on the spelling Roux instead of Roo because her coat is the color of a roux used in cooking. So there you go!
