My brother taught her to hold a treat on the end of her nose, then she taught herself to toss it into the air and catch it before it hits the floor..

Arrival Story:
When Samantha was 6 months old she was very hyper. Her owners (a classmate of mine) were on their way to drop her off at the pound when I talked them into letting me have her instead. Through patience, love, and training she is a wonderful dog.

Samantha went from being very hyper and anti-social (she didn't like being petted) to being the most clingy dog I've ever had. She always has to have some part of her body touching me, so she knows I'm there for her. Samantha loves to help me care for foster bottle babies, kittens and puppies. She helps keep them clean, warm and safe. Samantha sometimes has issues with other dogs, she likes to think she's alpha dog. We went through lots of socialization classes and now we have learned that if mom says the other dog is ok then we have to at least tolerate it. After spending time with a new dog she will usually decide she wants to be friends and play, she just has to get used to their presence. I often think Samantha understand every word I say. She sits and stares intently at me when I talk to her and often she responds to things she's never been taught. One day my brother came for a visit. He called me from the hotel and told me he was on his way. After hanging up the phone I turned to Samantha and said "Brian is going to come over, do you want to see Brian?" She jumped up, ran over to the front door and sat there until he arrived.
