Sun Sign: Quick Bio:
 Gotcha Date: December 4th 2005
 Birthday: August 4th 2005
Likes: Running, bouncing and treating his sister like a giant chew toy

Pet-Peeves: Standing still and going to his room at night for bedtime

Favorite Toy: Anything Walter Henry or Aggie is currently playing with - then he simply MUST have it NOW!!!!

Favorite Food: He loves garlic bread

Favorite Walk: Piedmont Park - small dog park

Best Tricks: Who can get him to sit still to teach him any ...

Arrival Story: I decided we were ready to expand our little family, and I contacted Rat Bones Rescue. I searched their listings of available Rat Terriers all over the country and found Ernest. On Dec. 4, 2005 I flew to Indianapolis, IN to bring him home.

Bio: When I saw his first photo I fell in love with him, he was all ears and tummy. Even now at nearly 5 months old, he's still trying to learn to hold them all the way up like Walter Henry does, and most of the time they go up and then curl over backwards. Ernest is what is commonly referred to as the "Teddy Roosevelt Style" of Rat Terrier. He weighs 9.2 pounds and is 7" tall at the shoulder at 4 months old, and the vet told me to only expect about another 1" of height and possbly 2-3 pounds of weight on him when he's full grown.
Right now, he's Aggie's worst nightmare and Walter Henry's "Mini Me" - he goes where Walter goes, tries to do everything Walter does and even sits down like Walter does. I'm not sure if he looks up to Walter Henry and wants to be like him or if he's making fun of him.
ERNIE'S HOUSE RULES :
If I like it, it's mine.
If it's in my mouth, it's mine.
If I can take it from you, it's mine.
If I had it a little while ago, it's mine.
If it's mine, it must never appear to be yours in any way.
If I'm chewing something up, all the pieces are mine.
If it just looks like mine, it's mine.
If I saw it first, it's mine.
If you are playing with something and you put it down, it automatically becomes mine.

Oh my gosh did we ever have fun and we ate and ate -- don't tell it that you heard it from me but Sister ate so much she had to take off her dress .. hee - hee !!!
My mommas got me some really cool presents, and she made me the very best ever brownie muffins -- she used a bake at home mix from Bark Bars, its all carob and made special for doggies - NO chocolate.
I got so many toys and a new blankie and pillow for my cell -- oh, Momma Jenny said the proper term was "crate" ... hey, I call 'em like I see 'em. I also got lots and lots of treats I can share with Walter Henry & Sister.
I want to thank every one who sent me birthday wishes, Odie for sending me a birthday rosette and to Louie and Bella for getting me into such buff shape with the Ninja training and morning work outs. Momma Jenny says I'm a real hottie in my muscle shirt. Yep, folks those puppy days are in the past -- I'm a big guy now!!
Momma put some birthday pictures on my page, but we're all very tired now so she's going back to nighty nite so she can go to work tonight and I'm headed back to my cell with my new blankie and pillow to snuggle with my Yeti toy and have sweet dreams -- I'll catch you guys later!!

Well you guys, you won't believe it but it FINALLY happened ... I'm off the puppy stuff and on to Big Boy food. Yep, I'm growing everyday. Momma says I don't look like I grew much, just got more stretched-ed out, but inside I know I'm a Big Dog now. Yeah, puppies can't be Ninjas you know, that's Big Guy stuff -- momma is all sad about losing her Baby Boy, but that's just how it goes. I'm all grown up now and a secret undercover member of the Ninja Pug Brigade --pretty confidential stuff I can't discuss in here.
What I CAN discuss though is all of the very important things I've learned while growing up. Do you remember when I was just a puppy I had some very important lessons to remember, and now that I've mastered those I've got some new stuff to share with my friends -- it might help you too!!!
1) If possible, it's always best to find a way down the stairs that doesn't involve going tumble, tumble and then bam, bam, bam on the back of my head.
2) Anytime I see my Mommy putting on her big boots, I can be pretty sure an adventure is going to happen.
3) If I insist on drinking water and barking at the same time, it usually results in me having to be patted on the back and dried for a long time afterwards.
4) When looking at my two paws, as soon as I've decided which of them is the right one -- I can be pretty sure the other is the left.
5) When momma is busy working and I'm pretty sure it's time for a snackee, it usually helps when I look wistfully in the direction of the treat jar.
6) Even though eating a tasty meaty bone is a very good thing -- there is the moment right before the first bite that is even better.
7) When someone gives me a bath that I really don't want, one which changes my color, remember rolling in the dirt on my first potty break outside gets my nice comfortable color again.
8) In the case of sudden temporary immersion, it's best to try to keep my head above water until my momma can scoop me out.
9) Sometimes, if I stretch out under the big oak tree with the sun shining and a soft breeze is blowing as I watch the clouds slip past in the sky ... suddenly and without really meaning to, I seem to know all there ever was to know.

Hi, wow I'm really growing up and learning alot of new stuff. Today my mommy went to visit her friend, and I made a new friend too. He is a Xoloitzcuintle -- hey, don't even ask I'm still a kid.
Well, at first I wasn't sure if I'd be allowed to play with him, all of his hair was gone and I was sure he'd either been (or still was) VERY sick. Then my momma told me he was supposed to look like that and it was ok to play with him. We ran and ran and he was very strong, and he gave me a new name ... he kept calling me "Ernesto". Then his momma taught me something new too, she says "Ernesto, venido aquí". I'm not sure of the exact translation, but I think it means "run very fast because the nice lady has a treat for you" -- yeah, I'm pretty sure that's what it means.
When I came home and told sister all about it, she said that it was wonderful that I was bi-lingual, and now she keeps calling me "El Stupido". I try to tell her it's "Ernesto", but I don't think she knows how to pronounce it yet. When I asked sister what "El Stupido" meant, she told me it meant "very handsome, much loved baby brother" --- wow, and I thought she didn't like me. I told her great, and that she could call me "El Stupido" any time and she said "No problemo" ... see how much I'm learning already.
Until next time -- Adios
Ernie/Ernesto/ El Stupido ...
