Leave a bone for Bella

Special Gift Box:

Nicknames: B, Smella, Belly button, Bell

Quick Bio:
Likes: Getting hugs and belly rubs, sneaking up onto the couch for a nap, being with mom and dad

Pet-Peeves: Alpha dogs that think they're tough (why do tiny dogs bark at me?). Big dogs that look at me funny.

Favorite Toy: Any stuffed animal I can carry around in my mouth

Favorite Food: Hamburger

Favorite Walk: Mount Sanitas in Boulder

Best Tricks: Climbing tall mountains and running down in the snow

Arrival Story: I met the guy that owned Bella's dad (Dozer) and we went to get his pick of the litter. Bella was the smallest Saint in the litter and the only one with a half-mask. I wasn't supposed to have a dog because I was leasing an apartment that didn't allow pets, but we both knew we were meant to be together. Within a month, I bought a house with a yard just for my new love.

Bio: I am so very sad to report that Bella passed away suddenly on Wednesday, June 30, 2004. She had been rapidly losing weight, her muscles were getting weak, and she was struggling to get up. These symptoms never abated and we never found out the cause, although the diagnosis was IBD. One day, she laid down in the backyard and her heart simply stopped. Mine is forever broken. She is always in our hearts and we miss her terribly. Bella was my constant companion and had so many friends. She had a wonderful life and was loved and spoiled and treasured. I love you my little girl.

Today I met some people from the CSBR -- that's the rescue -- and by coincidence I learned that they got your dad, Dozer, and sister, Zoe, a few years ago ... probably when Dozer's owner went to the big house. Sadly, Zoe was very aggressive and had to be put down. Dozer was placed in a home and they found out that he has had epilepsy for several years. He's 9 years old now. I'm so glad that I had 5 beautiful years with you, Bel, and that you never got the symptoms of epilepsy. It made me grateful to know that you had a loving home, and that you never got mean or had to suffer through seizures. I miss you.

It's been almost three months since we last saw your happy smiling face. Greta and I miss you so much every day. We miss your bark, and that silly smile when you wanted to be let out the back door, and the way your ears perked up at the word "treat," and most of all we miss your love. You were my best friend and I love you.
