Arrival Story:
My ex-husband - many years ago - wanted a Rottie and I thought he was nuts. I had 4 kids that I was kinda attached to and didn't really want them eaten for dinner. He got a Rottie anyway and I fell in love. I had Rocky for 4 years (he was 6 when we adopted him from the shelter) before he was put to sleep (lots of medical problems, not a good candidate for surgery). Anyway, I had an English Mastiff after that and loved her dearly, but always dreamed of another Rottie. Flash forward - now happily married to the best man in the world who would give me the moon - sucker!! - and I talked him into getting a Rottie after we lost the mastiff. Saw an ad on line for a free rottie and sent the lady an e-mail. She said she imported him from Germany to breed with her females but he wasn't earning his keep as he turned out to be sterile, so he was "useless". **Heartbroken for him**. She had just told me how perfect his temperment was. Drove 5 hours to get him because she planned on giving him to a guy who wanted to drive him around in the back of his pickup and teach him to "be mean" so he would protect his property. She had left him outside for 3 years, never allowed him in the house or bathed him. Now he happily is the guard of the living room couch, making sure it doesn't float away when no one looks. He is my pride and joy - just love him more than anyone can imagine.

Baron begins his Canine Good Citizen Classes on January 18th, 2006!! We are looking for a "sister" for him that can take the classes with him. His two brothers, Murphy and Duval, won't play with him because he is too big and steps on them, so he really needs someone to play with. After completing the classes, the two of them will go to daycare centers, nursing homes, hospitals, hospice, etc., to show the world that Rotties are one of the gentlest breeds ever when they are properly socialized and cared for. This crazy "Rotties are viscious" rumor has got to go. My Rocky showed me how wrong I was about the breed, and now Baron and his future sister will show the rest of the world.

Not only did I get a new sister in January, but last month mom went to get a foster dog and brought home a brother too! He's younger than me and has lots of energy, but we get along really well. Now that he is here I found out how much fun tug and toys are. Roxy played with them but never shared. Tyson shares with me all the time. This brother thing is cool.

Road Trip!!

Mom talked to Gram the other day and scheduled our vacation this summer. June 21 to July 7 we can go to North Carolina. Now the trick is getting Dad to let Rox and I go. Gram isn't much of a dog person and says the house will be too cramped with us there too. Mom is trying to talk him into renting an RV and driving that and the van up. The kids could stay in the house with Gram and Grampa and Mom and Dad could stay in the RV with Rox and I. Then we could go hiking and walking to the park and lake and around town. Mom and Dad are thinking of buying land in eastern Tennessee and want to go there for a couple days too and Mom wants to take us so we can walk the property with them. I hope she talks him into it.

Mom went to PetSmart yesterday. Roxy's other Mom had sent a thank you gift card to her for taking in Rox and loving her. I thought - yeah, whatever. She's such a little Diva. Like we need to let her know she is worth that much. Her head is going to be so big it will probably explode. Anyway, then Mom came home with toys and snacks like you can't believe!! Ok - so send her gift cards. That means I get snacks and toys too. Except Rox is stingy with the really cool squeaky bone. Mom makes her share with me though. Haha!! Now Mom says she has to go back and get us all the better beds for our kennels. I gotta admit - it's a nice bed and I really want one like that!

Well, our classes don't start until March so Mom is doing training - just basic stuff - with us at home until then. She said today that she is going to see if she can get Rox to do some of the agility tricks. Don't know what that is, but as long as I can lay on my couch and watch Rox outside learning stuff and they don't disturb me, I'm all for it!

I will keep ya posted and get more pics up here. Keep your fingers crossed for my NC road trip!!

Our CGC classes were supposed to start tonight. Unfortunately we won't be able to go until March now. All the kitties in the house have had a terrible outbreak of a respiratory virus and Mom and Dad have spent a fortune on them. So much for class registration and all of our doctor appointments for vaccinations and my neuter - though I gotta say I'm not that disappointed about that last one!!

So now the classes will start on March 22nd and our appointments will be next week. Until then Mom says she will take us to PetSmart alot so we can still see people.

And in case you were wondering, the spoiled little kitties are all doing well.
