Arrival Story:
Lilly basically plopped out of the sky and landed on our street. We saw the face of a pit and were scared and went in the house. She had a big gash in her head. Lilly was very persistent that she belonged with us because she came on our front porch and kept scratching at the front door. We finally put her into the backyard with our Rottie/Dobie mix and realized how submissive she was and that she was a very gentle creature. I believe whoever had her before wanted a fighter and ended up with a lover and abused her and let her go. Somehow she found us and for the past 2 years has been the most loyal, non-aggressive, cuddly and affectionate dog i've ever had. She just belongs here. My 4 year old refuses to go to bed without Lilly and at bedtime, Lilly just gets up and follows her into the room. I believe that she is grateful for the great life she has now as opposed to what could have been and she has repaid us triple fold with her loyalty.

Sad Story with a Comforting Ending

I am sad to say and it has taken me months to be able to even write this but Lily is no longer living with us. Last November on Black Friday I came home in the afternoon from shopping to what looked like a murder scene. Lilly's face has some marks on it but nothing major but our Haley was bleeding all over the house and could hardly stand. For whatever reason, the vet believed it to be a female dominance issue, Lily and Haley got into a major fight and tried to kill each other. Lilly being much younger obviously got the best of Haley. We rushed Haley to vet and after a couple scares she is now happy and healthy and the vet even said it was a miracle she survived. It was so hard having the two of them in the house together because we were always on edge that something would happen again. I could not find a home for Haley, we've been together for way too long and I was terrified to think what would happen to Lilly if I placed her in a home that I was not familiar with. One of my coworkers had a pitbull that was about 13 years old that had recently passed a couple of months before and he was very distraught about his loss. When he heard of my dilemma, he offered to take Lilly into his home and love her and raise her. As hard as the decision was to let her go, I know I did the right thing. It was not fair to constantly be switching the 2 girls between kennel time and bedrooms. This was not the life they had always known. So, Mike came and adopted Lilly. He and his girlfriend are totally in love with her (she works her magic well) and I get to see her at least once a week when Mike gets dropped off at the office and I give her hugs and kisses and tell her how much I miss her. It's very hard to even look at a picture of this sweet girl because I miss her goofy face so much. That is why I've been off Dogster for so long. I love you Lillith Anne and you will always have a special place in my heart.
