Arrival Story: We wanted a buddy for Gunner and just could not go through the puppy stage again at this time. We found Roxie on the American Brittany Rescue website. I wish we had more room to rescue more Britts. They are wonderful dogs.
Bio: Roxie was abandoned by her owners in West Virginia. They had tied her to a tree in a middle of a snowstorm in the backyard of her previous owner's apartment complex. They moved out of their apartment the same evening leaving her behind. A neighbor heard her crying and barking and took her in. They turned her over to the American Brittany Rescue and placed her with a foster family in Maryland. We adopted her in February 2005. She has been a great addition to our family. She fit in from day one. We have had no problems with her. She has learned to trust us and has become a very affectionate dog. Her and Gunner get along great and he loves having a new playmate and friend. Every once in a while he'll let her know who the boss is. She doesn't mind. She just puts him in his place!! Kudos to American Brittany Rescue for having such a great organization! Roxie has really warmed up to us after being with us over a year and a half now. She has become so much more affectionate...but on her own terms. She'll crawl up in your lap and sleep. She also flashes us a "smile" when we get home from work to let us know how happy she is to see us. We think that is very cool. She's one happy girl!! We just love her to death and are glad we rescued her and gave her the good home she deserved! It's so hard to understand how people can abandoned and abuse such wonderful animals. They give us so much unconditional love.
