Best Tricks:
"Kill it!" When he has his rope-ball toy, he will shake it furiously from side to side while growling when told to "kill it!"

Arrival Story:
Tommy was rescued when he was six months old from a home who did not socialize him as a puppy, a family who no longer wanted him, and left him chained up outside. We believe he was also struck with objects due to his severe cowering and fear when we first got him and held any object out towards him. I was walking down the hall with a curtain rod one day and he cringed and wet on the floor as I went by him. He is much better now, as we have worked diligently to hold out all kinds of objects and let him smell them, praising and treating him when he showed curiousity rather than fear. Tommy is a treasured member of our family.

Bio:
Tommy is a big goof who loves to do silly things to make his people laugh, such as chasing his tail and growling/snaring "viciously" as he shows his toys off to us. He loves above all else being touched, petted, scratched, or just laying so some part of him touches his people. He is the cuddliest dog I have ever been around, if you sit on the floor, he immediately tries to plop in your lap, or curls up as close as he possibly can. He looks hypnotized when he is getting petted and scratched, his eyes glaze over and he sinks into total relaxation. He was not properly socialized as a pup, and startles easily with strange noises/objects, but we are still working on this.

Tommy here!

I'm sorry that I have forgotten to write for awhile. I guess I have been having so much fun playing in the snow and then curling up on my soft bed and napping when we come back in that I haven't thought about it. I never get tired of playing in the snow! It does get hard to find my favorite logs though. When we come in, Mom has to get the packed little balls of snow out that get stuck in the webbing of my feet. My sister Tasha doesn't seem to have that problem! Well, my nice cozy bed is calling, I think I'm going to go back to my nap. I was dreaming of digging up big logs in the snow! Bark at ya later! Woof!

Tommy here!

Wow I'm excited, I got an e-mail from my wonderful new pup pal Brody! He looks a lot like me and he has a neat ball with ropes too, just like I do! Speaking of neat balls, Mom brought me home a new tennis ball today. I wasn't sure if it was really for me, so I took it rather tentatively at first, but after that, I raced back to stash it in my bed with my other treasures. Well, after awhile when I saw no one was really looking for it, I went and got it back out again, I showed it to everyone while growling and shaking my head, just to show how tough I am. I conquered the ball! Woof!

Tommy here,

Fall weather has been so nice, perhaps a bit dry, but the temperatures are perfect and I have been in a particularly puppyish mood lately, romping around and getting into trouble. Mom and Dad harvested some miniature white pumpkins and I keep nabbing them off the deck and carrying them around. The other day Mom found both her tennis shoes in my bed (but I didn't chew them!). I guess the weather just has me feeling like a puppy again. Woof!
