Arrival Story:
We adopted Mendel from the North Texas GSP Rescue. He's partially blind, which we discovered a few weeks after adopting him. However, he doesn't let the blindness get him down! After a number of tests, we've determined that his blindness is at least partially diet based, and he has a poor aqueous-blood barrier in his eyes, which cause lipemic uveitis if he has excess fat in his diet.
So now he's on a prescription low fat diet and has lost weight, his vision has stabilized (still partially blind, but not getting worse), and he has an abundance of playful energy. People at the park think he's 3 years old!
Bio:
He was found on the side of the road in Bastrop County, and he behaves like a hunting dog in the woods.
