Max had a sad story. He had lived with a family for 7 years but was brought to Animal Control in the Brockton MA area when the family broke up. He was fostered to a family with two dogs and did well. He was adopted by their friends, but was given too much freedom and not enough guidance and bit the husband. Back to the pound he went, where he developed "separation anxiety". When I came to see him he was at the point where he'd bark incessantly until someone came to get him. He was allowed to hang out in the office area during the day.
After searching for a month or two online and visiting local rescues and shelters and pounds, I spotted Max on the MSPCA website and went to visit him at Angel Memorial Vetrinary Hospital in Boston. I fell in love on the spot. Luckily my wife-to-be Teresa gave us the thumbs up and we adopted him.

Bio: It was tough at first. He didn't like being in the crate, but we had to be firm, and gave him more freedom as he proved he could behave. We've had a few setbacks, but all in all he's been a wonderful dog. We dote on him like a child. Luckily he's just about always willing to come get a hug or be pet or scratched.
I think Max spent a lot of time tied up. He doesn't seem to know how to play with other dogs very well, although he's learning. He's very adept at untangling himself while on the leash. Maybe that's because he's so damn smart!
