Arrival Story:
I answered a "free to good home" ad in the paper and got him the same day. The last owners were just going to pass him through the door to me and leave him. They delivered him in a dirty crate, with a dirty towel and were more interested in getting rid of him than what my home was like or anything else. I knew I had a lot of work ahead of me with him. He hadn't been socialized at all, had not been to a vet in over two years, and had only had his puppy shot series. Today, 20 months later, Socrates is almost five and is a wonderful dog that is well behaved on or off leash and has learned almost half a dozen tricks. He is more friendly and social but is still cautious because of his reclusive past. Socrates recently got an adopted baby sister and she is helping him learn to play with other doggies.

Socrates' favorite people are me (mommy) and my 19 year old son, Jason. He goes everywhere possible with either me or Jason which has included the beach, surfing, on stage with Jason's band, Petco and Petsmart, Walmart, camping in our beautiful Oregon mountains and just for drives in the car.

Practice makes Perfect

Today at the park mommy decided it had been awhile since we had practiced any of my obedience skills. we did the funny one where mommy tells me to stay and wait and then she just walks away and she keeps getting farther and farther away too. I'm supposed to just stay and not move until mommy turns that's wrong....until mommy tells me to come. I used to run to her when I saw her turning because I just knew she was going to say come anyway, so I thought I would save her the trouble, but she keeps insisting the rules of this game are that she has to say "come".

She's getting tricky too because she'll turn around and just stand there and not say anything for a really long time, but she didn't fool me today. I stayed still and did perfect in the game!

She was very happy and gave me lots of treats. Everytime I did it right I got a treat!

She doesn't play this game with Bella...only me because I'm special!

Mommy made Bella practice some games too, but they were baby stuff that I learned a long time ago.

Well, I have to go warm Jason's bed up because he's going to be home soon.

Holiday Photo Stroll

Okay, this could be some fun! I wouldn't let mom put that picture she has of me in the Christmas outfit...that was my gift to her and I don't like clothes!
The Holiday stroll should be fun. It looks like a lot of the dogster pals are on there and you never could bring me more pals and bones!
I love the holidays with all the food and then there's the food and oh did I mention the food! Unlike tonight when 2-legger sister, Lynnette makes tacos with everything on them and mommy wont let me or Bella have any, this is torture!
